[Stein] League sources say that the Wizards recently pursued Jae Crowder with a deal structure (believed to feature Rui Hachimura) that the Suns rebuffed. Phoenix is said to be holding out for a certifiable starter in a Crowder deal.

> When it comes to Crowder, three Eastern Conference teams — Milwaukee and Miami and those same Hawks — have been widely regarded as the veteran swingman’s most ardent suitors since it was announced in September that the 32-year-old would be away from the Suns until a trade partner could be found.

Wizards tricked themselves that they’re contending again

  2. Loll who’s going to trade a starting caliber player for a guy on an expiring contract that’s made it clear he won’t play for the Suns again?

  3. HokageEzio

I’m not sure how good Rui is or will be. But I am sure that the Wizards aren’t a Jae Crowder away from fixing their problems.

    Sorry Wizards fans.

  4. Neuroxex

Alright my idea of how valuable Jae Crowder is is clearly way off.

  5. blitzKriegzzz

Gm is a clown. Idk why people think he’s better than ernie grunfeld… guy was his assistant

  6. Idk who’s dumber here. The Wizards for trying to trade Rui for scraps or the Suns for not taking Rui for fucking Crowder lmao

  7. OkGovernment5374

maybe wizards want jae and 1st rd pick.

    1. Why would the Wizards offer Rui for Crowder?
    2. Why would the Suns decline this??????

  9. jfrodriguez1983

Why? They just snapped a long 10 game losing streak. The team is not good. Is Jae Crowder suppose to make them good?

  10. Merid1us

I thought Cam Johnson was supposed to be the starter. Why are they trying to get a starting level player for Crowder who was going to be a bench player anyway?

You’re not getting that return unless you attach a pick.

Wait the Suns want to trade a guy that is refusing to play because they deemed him not a starter, and they want a starter in return…good luck

It almost sounds like this is a planted story — not a real offer. I think the Suns are looking to generate more interest in Crowder. (sooner — than later)

  14. ChairmanOfCringe

Certifiable starter for a guy who hasn’t played a minute this season is wishful thinking.

  15. mjackson4672

A certified starter for a guy they moved to a bench role ?

Suns pressin too hard to win rn

Expecting a starting level caliber player for Crowder who is maybe that at this point when every other team knows your looking to deal him is rolling the dice. Yea opportunities open up closer to the deadline but Crowder isn’t on the court rn so his stock has no chance of rising higher

Rui has more potential than given credit for when he’s playing. Even with Cam rehabbing, you can never have enough long athletic wings.

Suns just gotta let the Wiz be the Wiz

  17. jimbo_sly

were not a well managed team but we all know this already

  18. _LilBucket

I would much rather have Rui. Additionally, having him gives you access to the Japanese market.

  19. drutastic57

This is insane by the suns. Rui has alot of potential

Crowder isn’t playing any minutes for them? A fringe starter like Rui is more than fair for a fringe starter in crowder when he plays but he isn’t even playing.

Suns want to pull off a fleece when most GMs won’t fall for it.
