Imagine a world where we don’t drop games against the pistons and spurs

This needed to be a win. It’s really obvious that we need more better defensive players as at the moment every single team of ours is just getting easy buckets against our defense. Still good game and Spurs had a good game. 32 Lauri wasn’t enough.

This game makes me miss whoever Rudy Gobert is

With Philly getting going, probably for the best if the jazz drop into the lottery.

I wonder what the worst our 3 picks could be combined to be trave for a top-3 pick in this draft?

Mavs traded the 5th pick and a future lottery pick for 3…

Every night we can’t lean on the offense is the same.

We continue to fight and that deserves some credit but it’s just score to stay in it until the defense finally comes around/if it comes around.

There’s so many things we can do effort wise that would change the defense too. Boxing out, stopping the ball in transition, a little less gambling on steals…

I continue to be surprised where this team really tries in games and the weakness’s that seem to be a lack of effort/focus

The fact that we almost snuck in with a win is astounding. That whole game we couldn’t shoot the three hardly at all, there was no assists to be seen, and defense was so terrible it really was inevitable we were gonna lose this one.

On that note, I’m excited to see Conley scoring more like usual. That shooting slump was rough and hopefully over.

Does anyone know if Sexton is still on restricted minutes? I wanted to see more of him late in the game but he was not there, felt odd to throw in JC who was having a crap night for Sexton who was doing a lot right.

Also kinda over the whole love and die by JC and Beasily’s success. Need more assists from those guys instead of countless bucked up threes with zero efforts to get it to another guy.

    GAME NOTES:

Damn everybody besides Blockler Kessler was defending tonight from anywhere. We let them have whatever they wanted in the paint tonight. Kessler also had 4 fouls by halftime, so our interior defense came down to Markkanen, Vando, and Gay for most the night. It isn’t Kessler’s fault, he isn’t getting the best whistles, but he does generally foul a lot. Him and Vando both had 4 tonight, but Kessler’s 4 hurt more in my eyes.

Markkanen another 30 burger, dropping 32 with 12 rebounds. He, like the rest of the Jazz, wasn’t hitting anything from 3 this game, but got to the line 13 times which was huge. ALL STAR MAN

Conley looked really good today. 16-6-5 with 5-7 from 3, he was our only consistent shooter today. He also picked up 3 steals and a block. Way to go mountain mike. He looked calm out there, and it was nice he had a good shooting game after some poor performances last few games.

Beasley and Clarkson shot 4-17 from 3 tonight. yikes

Gay went 0-3 only taking 3’s today, which is a big no no in my book. I’m so ready to be done playing Rudy Gay.

One trend I’ve liked is we are limiting our turnovers. It was such a problem with Conley out, but with him back we have been keeping our turnover count low.

We didn’t do a good job passing the ball. 20 assists is terrible. Too many Beasley and Clarkson ISO’s which is a huge negative when they already weren’t shooting well.

Credit to Clarkson though for getting to the line and going 7-8

NAW looked good in his minutes, as usual.

Sexton brings fire when he checks into the game, he brought the heat and offensive intensity in the first quarter when we had a slow start. He’s also been moving the ball well with 4 assists tonight. I would love for him to eventually take Conley/Clarkson’s starting spot, whether by trade or by outplaying them, but he fits great off the bench as a one-two punch with Beasley.

This was just such a pisspoor effort defensively. Letting San Antonio drop 55.2% from the field is terrible. They had something like 72 or 74 points in the paint alone this game. Nobody could stop them.

Tough loss on this team after winning our last 2. This should’ve been a scheduled win, and we were close despite going 13-43 from 3. The spurs were up 120-105 with 3 minutes left, and we almost came back and won it. I would’ve loved to see more of that effort defensively throughout the whole game, but what can you do I guess.

    19-17 bitches

The only thing more infuriating than Rudy gay playing lots of mins is the way Lauri Markkanen barely gets involved. This team is absolutely carried by Lauri

  9. cyianite

Really a slow start from the team, maybe becz of the holiday break, theyve no energy from the 1st half except for Lauri, Sexton & Conley. Jc got his rhythm in the 2nd half and hits some clutches, Beasley was overall bad even with the unimaginable 3s that the basketball gods denied it. Vandos is all good for defense but he really needs to get some offensive weapon, they really need a real dominating PF that has size , can post up, attacks and score. Vando is good as a backup but hes expensive as a role player guy

  10. Honestly. I’m not bothered by this one.

It almost looked like the refs decided they would take Kessler out of the game early to open up the inside for the Spurs. Multiple questionable calls on Kessler…

Never a fan of JB DeRosa, always super sketchy games when he’s reffing us.

Spurs showed up tonight, but that’s probably still a W in spite of our shooting in the first 3 quarters if the reffing scheme above never played out.

    GG onto the next.

The jazz starting lineup has no variety, Collin should be starting at this point. Certain points in the game (although he didn’t get ball) Hardy had to sub him in because all the guys did was take 3pointers because they what they’ve done they’re whole careers. I’m not at all shocked by how they’re playing because they lack a guard in the starting lineup that draws fouls consistenly and gets in the paint. Sexton can do much more than that but the problem is jazz do not run plays for him so he often has to take what’s available to him. It’s a poor use if his taken and actually holds back the team because you need a player like that every team has one

  12. Haha… lighten up guys. It could be worse… you could be Wolves fans! lol

  13. SilentStock8

Surprised we made it a game in the last 3 minutes lol

I’m a huge Will Hardy fan but he has got to figure out a better defensive system with his personnel. Our offense is super elite and if we even had a league average defense, we’d be a top 3 team in the West right now.

Interior defense, transition defense & defensive rebounding have got to get fixed. Doesn’t matter how elite your offense is if you have a bottom 5 defense.

  15. We need to trade for a actual defender or 3. Also please stop giving Rudy Gay playing time. Also make a 3
