Hey guys I’m a casual fan. I saw this graphic on Twitter and it seems like RJ is declining since his rookie year. What’s up with him?

RJ’s BPM has never been positive, his career average is -2.1. The improvement for him was to go from dumpster fire (-4.3) to bad but playable (-1.2), to regression (-1.6).

This is cumulative. If you keep adding negatives, even if the negatives aren’t as big as they were before, you’re still going down.

Slow start to the season, but he’s been picking it up. He definitely has more moves in his bag than he did his rookie season. His shooting comes and goes

Not surprising considering he leaves so many points on the front of the rim

Seems like it’s been flat or so for the past 50 games, with some ups and downs along the way. Most of the decline is from his first few seasons when he was a highly inefficient, high usage player.

Now he’s very streaky hence being flat for the past half season or so, since the lines are cumulative.

The RJ stans will say he’s still only 22 and has shown flashes so will eventually figure it out and become an all-star.

The RJ haters will point to all the players above him and say they all figured it out by now so we shouldn’t keep waiting.

They both could be right, so who knows…..
