Bucks conjure disastrous loss to Bulls and is Giannis Antetokounmpo's workload a concern?

With a double digit lead on only minutes to play, the Milwaukee Bucks looked set to snap a three-game losing steak. Instead, missed shots, poor turnovers and horrible execution handed them a frustrating loss. What went wrong down the stretch? Is the workload of Giannis a concern? 1. We need to also appreciate how many tough shots the bulls landed. However these guys need to take some weight off Giannis's shoulders.

  2. Maybe Jrue is sick from cricket tea and Serge's cooking…

Also it's frustrating to see Giannis always be the only one out there after games practicing his shot (even/especially after tough OT losses like the last one) – he's setting a great example as the best player on the team, but why isn't anyone following his lead? If I was Grayson I'd be out there putting up some threes after a game like that.

  3. After painfully enduring watching the full last 4 games it became to me apparent that:
    1. Our half court offense is horrible, utter trash. It feels like every basket come after a lot of struggle. On the contrary our opponents seem to score much more effortlessly

    2. Giannis attracts A LOT of attention. Yet he still scores at will and finds the open men consistently. BUT despite the wide open looks we get all game(s) long, we are throwing bricks.

In the Bulls game specifically, we were 8 pts ahead with 1:39 to go, and even 4 pts ahead with 48ish seconds to go. I do not understand how you can loose such a game. It is literal suicide that we managed to lose this one. I may be too old school or too familiar with euroleague/fiba basketball but losses like that are 100% on the coaching staff.
You have 2 primary objectives when managing a lead in the closing seconds of a game, (a) use as much of your 24 seconds as possible, (b) many your opponents offense last as long as possible. The tactics to achieve that and the good habits (since we hear about habit quite a lot) are the responsibility of the coaching staff to drill into the team. But Bud seems to be sleeping on the wheel.

However, we can (and to some extend should) look at the few final minutes of the 53 minutes of the Bull game, but for 46+ minutes we have no half court offense and bricks flying all over the place.

To me, the last 4 losses are 70-80% due to Bud and his staff and the rest on our inability to score on open looks. Bud's grace period after the championship, IMHO, has expired.
But the worst thing is that we are not going to, hopefully, rack up a few Ws with weaker opposition and all will be fine and then come play offs when we face serious opposition get our buts kicked.

  4. It's easy Giannis pulls to the basket takes care of 3 opponents at the same time fits the free man and he discards the same every year gives the boy a real superstar and some good shooters 200 mil for Middleton 🤦🏻‍♂️

  5. Coach is stale, perimeter, predictable, stagnant & unathletic, catch/shoot 'Specialists'. Not one can effectively dribble drive to create their own offence. Marjon has to play 15-20mins for energy, defense @6-7" & offensive threat. We need to trade for bkup Khris now, a athletic scorer who can create his own shot.

  6. We got to trade Allen now that he has some value. The man is unplayable against elite teams.Hes a liability defensively and offensively hes a shooter that cant get his shots off against an elite defense. His offense doesnt make up for his defense

  7. You guys talk about Grayson, but at least he scored 11 points if i am not mistaken. Pat had 0 points and missed his 2 free throws…

  8. Coaching and shooting are becoming a problem again. Also trade for someone like Terrance Ross or Crowder. Our white boys can't hold Tatum or Brown

  9. To me Giannis looked drained at the end of that game. He needs a break. There in no reliable help. Lopez has to be more aggressive on offense. Why is smaller guys blocking his shot from behind?

  10. I agree with Camille on the Bulls game. With the turnovers and missed 3's, and the reversal on the call with Derozan, you could see the collapse coming. I have watched the Nets game and the Celtics game in the past 2 nights, and it is clear that the Bucks will not win a championship as they are currently constructed. The Bucks do not have reliable perimeter shooters. Their energy was flat coming into the game and Giannis appears to be the only player who can engineer offense. I don't know if a coaching change is needed, but Bud does not seem open to creating a successful offensive flow. Certainly the Nets and Celtics have an offensive flow established which works effectively.

  11. I, on the other hand, saw a lot of positives. Bench mob was back. We don't lose it or increase the difference from the bench. Hill, Wesley and Pat had a different energy. The inbound plays are usually excellent and I don't remember them making such a big mistake before. It was a bad loss but ok. My concern is that Matthews is the man to play in the playoffs. Allen is a huge problem defensively, the Boston game made that crystal clear to me. If I were a general manager I would trade Middleton for Gary Trent Jr and Anunoby in a heartbeat…

  12. Giannis at the top with the ball is almost never good for us. Been saying it since 2020 we cant win it all if when the game slows doen giannis continues to bring the ball up as a point forward. Let him get downhill when transition opportunities present themselves but jrue/jevon/joe/khris are oit main ball handlers and giannis needs to get it to them when his lanes are cut off, or jump to the post and call for the ball. Ill take that over a 3 anyday.

  13. I don't blame Giannis. The guy does everything. He has to much pressure on him and he is trying to hard and mistakes happen. I'm not gonna put it on him. His mistakes were costly, but he shouldn't be put in that position to behin with.

  14. Joe ingles just needs time, so I'm not gonna judge him yet. It's gonna take quite a few games for him to get his rhythm and chemistry with these guys. I think he will be fine, but the rest of them, esp the bench, has to go. I would play rookie full time at this point. Got nothing to lose right now playing him. Nobody else can hit a wide open shot, and there was a lot of wide open shots. You could have lowered the basket 3 feet, and they still can't hit it. Unreal

  15. I tried to point out the warning signs when we lost that game to HOU, and people were saying I was overreacting and it's early in the season and that there was plenty of time. When the signs and symptoms present themselves, you cannot just ignore them. If a person has chest pain, they shouldn't just say, I won't worry about it, there's plenty of time. They need to go in and get it checked out by a doctor. When they ignore it and they find out they had a heart attack, now they wish they would've gave it its proper attention when the symptoms presented themselves. Now, applying that logic to the Bucks, those signs and symptoms presented themselves against HOU, everyone blew it off. Then it showed up again at MEM, then CLE, BKN, BOS, and now CHI. Bud is the main problem here and his lack of creativity. His path with this franchise has run its course, and until management realizes this, this team will continue to underperform. My hopes were high for this season, but now I see that our championship window has closed, just that quickly. Giannis cannot do EVERYTHING, the supporting cast has let him and this team down, along with the coaching. I have lowered my expectations now from winning another title, to hopefully not getting upset in the first round of the playoffs. This team as currently constructed and playing as they are will not make it past the second round.

  16. Half the team should be fired, especially the coach. These people shouldn't be in the NBA with 20% scoring even with some free shots… Even the bulls looked like a better team.

  17. This is not the only issue cause this Bucks team have lots to improve, but after the last 4 games I'm off the Grayson train.
He can't be the Bucks starter. Trade him or after a trade if Allen is still here he should be off the bench with 15 minutes at most.

  18. I would like to see some action where multiple bucks are involved on O. A Giannis post up, Jrue/Brook Pnr, Khris/Giannis Pnr are really our only "plays". These actions lead to good shots, but perhaps the "others" moving and touching the ball could get them in rhythm to hit open 3s….which is a big area of improvement for us

  19. Can we trade Bud for Nick Nurse? We can also toss in Grayson Allen, George Hill, Wes Matthews, Jordan Nwora and Serge Ibaka.
