The lottery odds have changed some though to not reward tanking. I believe the worst 3 teams have the same odds to the number one pick and the 4 teams odds aren’t much different. We could be is great contention if we can finish as one of the 4 worst teams.

Look at how many minutes dudes like JRich, McDermott, and Poetl are getting. Poetl may or may not be gone depending on what the offers are, but I would be shocked if any of those dudes are on the team past the trade deadline. Likelihood is that PATFO sells off a third of the rotation for assets and then we go straight off a cliff from losing the vets. We are still the 4th worst record in the league, and only one game ahead of the 3rd worst. Deep breaths, it'll be alright.
I'm not losing my mind if we lose games like I was last year, but at the same time, I'm also not about intentionally wanting to lose games. I think when Pop was asked about tanking last year, he had the right answer: how do you go to these guys and ask them to lose? I think our inexperience shows during games, but if they're figuring that out, isn't that also the point? While we are trying to get a top 4 pick (and I think we'll get that), isn't the point of this season also for the young guys to learn and get better? If I remember, most of our game ending lineups (barring injuries) have been a combination of Tre, Keldon, Devin, Sochan, and Poetl. Those young guys, not the veterans, are getting chances to win games. And to this point, they're losing more than they're winning, but they're learning and slowly getting better. I agree that this season is about getting a superstar pick because I do believe that all of these pieces around a potential star (assuming it's Scoot or Wemby) elevates us potentially to an 8th seed next year and then further improvements get us up to contending status. I don't mind Richardson getting traded and to a lesser degree McDermott getting traded to weaken the bench a bit and possibly shore up assets, but I also really like that the young guys are being given the chance to finish games and develop too.

as long as they are a bottom 3 team chances are the same… they need to go on a 20 game losing streak
The goal for the season is to get the highest possible odds to get the highest draft pick to get a game changer like Wemby which only come once in a generation. Hope Spurs don[t mess it up.
Listen the Spurs are trying to lose as many games as possible but these other teams are just trash. Could you imagine if we tried this year? We'd be a playoff team. We somehow have to get even worse so we can finish bottom 3. I really hope some trades come in and make us much worse

My issue is that fans have to understand we really want to tank two seasons not just 1 season. Even if we get Wemby and our core 3 pieces, its competitive but not for sure a title team. If we are bad for 2 seasons we can get two top 3 picks in consecutive years, add moderate contracts for Sochan, Keldon and Devin and we have a title team set up for the next decade. I just doubt we can be bad enough for long enough

If you want development, then this should make you happy, IMO. It's not like they're going to win a lot of games anyway.
