Mine was growing up in ny/nj and always rooting for the underdog/less talked about teams but always liking local over other cities franchises.
I’m a Mets fan despite coming from a die hard Yankees family
Jets Fan in an area dominated by the Giants and a lot of comments from people on how the team doesn’t do well
And a Nets fan despite a lot of disappointment over the past few years and not a lot of media/local support when it comes to the Tri-State area you’d expect them to garner love from.
Hope to see all win it big time within my lifetime and get the respect they deserve in the big apple and neighboring areas.

Watching Patty Mills win Australia the bronze medal at the Olympics. I said that night “whoever he plays for, I’m in.”
It’s really hard to pinpoint one specific area because I used to consider myself just an NBA fan for a long time. But I always had a love for Brooklyn. Even back when they just moved to Brooklyn, I loved Brook Lopez and just loved the team. I even back in NBA 2K17 decked my guy out in Nets gear and requested my MyPlayer to get traded to the team even when they were garbage. I watched them a lot during the DLo era and was ecstatic when KD and Kai joined the team and was really upset when the Big 3 lost in 2021. I’m from Jersey and wanted to root for a “hometown” team and had a few things I wanted. I wanted to root for an “underrated” franchise, a franchise that never won a ring so I could experience the moment when we do, and a non-toxic fanbase. This along with my past experiences made it a really simple choice. I love this franchise even when we suck or look great.

Dad worked for the Nets in the 90s. Grew up being able to go to a ton of games. Eventually started getting really into the sport with the Kidd/RJ/VC era. That’s where I fell in love.

I was all of about 7 or 8 years old, and I was looking for something to watch and found a Nets game on where VC was banging threes from all over even hit one from the logo. Started watching more games, and here we are 15 years later. I was a fan of the NBA at the time but didn’t have a team. Gets more crazy to me as time goes on and makes me think what wouldve happened if I didnt watch that game.
