If the Mavericks can’t come to terms with Christian Wood on a new contract, they are widely expected to explore the trade market for him before the league’s Feb. 9 trade deadline, per Stein.

This is the move, folks. Don’t pay $20 mil/year for a center that can’t defend in today’s nba
I mean this is what they should do. We can’t risk losing another player in UFA for nothing. Either extend him or trade him.
It makes sense to explore trade options instead of losing him in free agency for nothing. Oh welp
They should just extend him that max offer that we can do for 4 years and if he doesn’t accept then trade him away. Not extending a good player because of a cap space 2 years in the future is absolute brainless bullshit.
I mean that’s the right move to make if we can’t come to an agreement with him. You can’t just let him walk for nothing.
Any Wood trade will be a salary dump and won’t be getting asset back.
$18 mil per for Wood is a little low by a couple of Mil but fair.
Maybe Mavs think Wood’s good attitude this year is contract year good vibes abs don’t want to be tired down to him.
He is still a good talent though, the biggest risk is what the Mavs hope to replace him with. This FO already moved on from KP and Brunson.
He’s 100% getting traded in a pure salary dump or for someone well past their prime and on a bad contract. Meanwhile Powell will probably end his career here after 2 more extensions
We gave away a first round pick for a rental lol
Idk a package of wood, green, bullock and a 1st or two for a star doesn’t sound too bad. But then again I remember who we are and we’ll end up trading all that for like gobert or some dumb shit
The mavs are refusing to extend CWood because they want to trade him at the deadline.
