it is what it is now. We have an expensive defensive role player. There is nothing we can do but encourage his development especially offensively

I like how sometimes he has played the 5. Not easy to play as an undersized 5.
Obviously tries to get everyone involved but as a PG, needs reps to get to know his teammates and where they want the ball. Hopefully gets better by the end of the year.
As his legs pick up from not playing so long hope he finishes some moves to the basket stronger.
I actually dont recall seeing a “Max” player set as many screens as he does.
His free throws. I’m just gonna assume he is who he is, and the Nets can win like they did on their streak with his free throw problems.

Not bad. The team looks better with him on the court than off it. Controls the game pace, screens really well, creates, and defensively troubles the opposition

This team cannot babysit Ben Simmons anymore. It is as simple as that. Yes, he brings defense and size to the starting lineup but when you are an absolute zero on offense and the team doesn’t know what they are going to get on a day to day basis, it is extremely difficult to gameplan.
Everyone will blame Royce for this game but he is not the one taking up 30M+ of cap space and providing role player production for that cost. If Ben Simmons was making 12-15M then yeah he is great value. But not at his salary. At his salary he is supposed to be the third star of the team and he is not that.

He plays his role and we wins games. His individual performance doesn’t matter as long as he succeeds in the role we have for him. We should just hope that he progresses and starts to tap back into his higher scoring nights
