Thought this was a good read. Unfortunate conclusion is that it may be difficult to find a great wing upgrade. Almost think the best idea might be…gulp…Okoro starting and Cedi off the bench??

OG Anunoby would be perfect but we can’t afford him

It would be great if the Cavs can add some much-needed shooting from threes. That would make the offense even more fun to watch. It would definitely open up lanes for Mitchell and Garland to get into and both guys can get to the rim. Not just that but it makes life easier for Allen and Mobley. Mobley could average a few more assists per game if the Cavs add some more shooting to the roster. Mobley has shown us that he has that great skill of seeing plays before they happen. Those excellent passes to Okoro from Mobley were a thing of beauty, man. You love it, huh? So did I. Mobley has high basketball IQ. You can’t teach that. Right now, the Cavs are 13th in the entire NBA in three-point shooting and they are ranked 11th overall in offensive rating. They would have like an elite offense if they have some more shooting from threes. 😁😁😁😂😂😂😎😎😎🍒🍒🍒🍨🍨🍨🎄🎄🎄✍️✍️✍️📖📖📖

It’s possible that a tanking team needs to dump somebody decent in order to improve their lottery position, so they should keep an eye on that front.
But barring that, or getting extremely lucky, it really doesn’t seem like they have the right collection of trade assets to make a trade for an SF that is much better than they guys they already have.
It seems far more practical to play out this season, and taking a swing during the off-season, using their MLE, any second round/late first round picks that might be available to be purchased, or possibly fleecing a luxury tax team in a Kevin Heurter-esque salary dump trade.

Okoro and LeVert really need to step their shit up

We could improve by adding just a replacement level wing as long as he’s an above average shooter. Our wing shooting is bottom of the league. Just getting up to average would be big for us

Adding a wing most likely doesn’t happen till next season. Our books are more set for that gial next season. The goal for this year is to secure home court for at least the first round (a top 4 seed) and get this young squad some experience. If we lose in the playoffs, I hope it is to the Bucks or Nets. Only reason I say that is so Mobley sees what he could become (kd like or giannis like, a combo of the two) and then takes that superstar stride in year 3.
