Toronto Raptors miraculous late comeback falls just short vs. Bucks in the dumbest game ever played

In Episode 1314, Sean Woodley is joined by Katie Heindl (DIME, Basketball Feelings) to break down the Toronto Raptors absolutely insane near-comeback against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night, in what was probably the dumbest game the Raptors have ever played. Off then top, Sean chats with Katie about their big takeaways from the game, including the excellent game plan the Raptors had for Giannis Antetokounmpo, and why there should be room to sit back and bask in the glory of chaos basketball, regardless of the results or implications. Next, Sean and Katie run through a dozen of the most ridiculous stats and events from the game and try to determine which was in fact the dumbest of them all. Lastly, they run through the Good (Gary Trent Jr.’s miracle shot to tie it in the fourth quarter, and the Bad (the nastiness surrounding Fred VanVleet’ end of game miss) before punting on the Hmm because the entire game was one big giant question mark anyway.

  1. This is the second time you and Katie went on this show talking amongst yourselves about how you just don't "get" the negative views that others hold on some issues. I'm not even sure that you even care to understand it.

For one, you're not going to get an understanding by continually bringing on the same people that you've had on dozens of times on this show because, at this point, we all know how they think and what they have to say. You and Katie didn't "get it" a month ago and you still don't "get it" because you made no effort to speak to anyone different from your usual media bubble in that time.

There are a number of independent content creators, who are quite popular on social media, that would probably give you a solid argument for why you're hearing what you're hearing.

I'm sure you know who they are and you just don't want to acknowledge them or their popularity for whatever reason.

  2. I feel for Fred , he does not deserve to be bashed on social media the way he is. That being said, basketball is a business and results are all that matter. At the end of the day, if your play is hurting the team and you are one of the main guys taking the most shots on the team , especially in crunch time. You deserve to be criticized. I don't blame fred for what hes doing out there on the court. I blame the front office and nick nurse for allowing him to continue to play in a role he was never suited to play. He is a shooting guard trapped in a pg body and his shooting efficiency is atrocious .He should be on the bench. If you gave Flynn the same freedom of jacking up the number of shots this guy has every game, he would have similar numbers in terms of points scored and assists. How many times have we seen this guy jack up an ill advised shot early in the shot clock or drive into the lane and get blocked cause he cannot finish in traffic. Its hard to watch this brand of basketball and I am absolutely shocked that the front office has allowed this to happen.

  3. When the opposing coach has to call the first time out while your team has 0 points 🤣

    NN has truly gone mad.

  4. This game had the scoring efficency of preseason game, the dread/malaise of a struggling team and the excitement of a playoff elimination game.

  5. Fred is the problem. Not just the shooting but his inability to run the offence. I like Fred but he is simply not a starting point guard.

  6. on the topic of accountability in the media i think what most people have a problem with is when people like doug smith question a second year players(Scottie) work ethic and NN calls out Gary TRent jr. for his defense when Fred has been the worst shooting player in the NBA this year there's no articles questioning if he is the reason the team is losing and underperforming. The blame is on Scottie and Gary when it should be on the Coaching staff not using players properly and not benching All the underperforming players. IF scottie gets benched for a bad night so should fred but he has never been benched this year. To me this is on NN.

  7. I just don't get the Fred attachment. Yes he was part of a championship team but it's clear he's regressed defensively at the point of attack. He takes I'll advised shots and can't finish at the net. He has the worst fg% in the NBA and he's declining physically. Hopefully, he turns it around a bit before the deadline so we can get value for him.

  8. ha ha ha! I honestly have been watching Raptors BBall since 1995 – yes old.. never ever seen a game like this – loved the intro today!!
