I was wondering what were the reactions / expectations when Jokic got picked the 41st. Does this sub had high hopes back in 2014? I want to know your thoughts when nuggets picked him that far. Any long time nuggs here who can chime in?

Anyways, FUN FACT:
Nikola Jokic was picked 41st…
during a Taco Bell commercial.

I mean if we’re being totally honest, there weren’t expectations for him when we drafted him. He was, like a lot of other 2nd round picks, viewed as a stash pick who could eventually develop into a role player over time. He was looked at as a limited center in terms of athleticism but one that could develop into a decent offensive NBA player under the right circumstances. He developed quicker than most expected and did eventually come over, but the expectations sorta were he would be a solid back up for Nurkic who was playing well with us. After one season though it was becoming pretty clear this dude was special and then he’s ascended pretty much from there.
I was following him while he was playing for mega because of how insanly talented he was compared to any other prospect i ever saw before, it was mesmerizing from the first time i saw him play , i just could not take my eyes off of him while watching games….he was a special basketball player from the first moment he stepped on the court.
But everybody, (including jokic himself) expected him to stay one, maybe two seasons in the nba just to practice and learn before returning to europe…most people in serbia thought it was a waste of time for him to even come over, some were concerned that his development will stop because there is no way in hell he gets any playing time etc …And tbh the style of play back then in the league really did not suit him , but here we are 8 years later, a totaly new brand of basketball is been played and he is one of the guys who was the driving force behind that change.
Its the most insane and unprobable story in sports history , im so thankfull i got to witness his rise and growth every step of the way into what he is today ( i believe he still has not peaked). What a freaking ride it was(still is)….if jokics career was a movie everybody would complain how unrealistic the story was.

lol, you clearly made that up. Surely someone would’ve reported this by now if it were true.
