Boston Celtics, Jayson Tatum (32 pts) grind out win over Chicago Bulls

The Celtics led for most of the game against the Bulls, and Jayson Tatum scored 32 points, but Chicago kept making runs. Their late run behind Zach Lavine and Nikola Vucevic nearly stole the game, but the Celtics never lost their composure and they found a way to grind out a win. John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal discusses the game, the big (and bad) performances, and why grinding out wins like this is good for the team.

  1. LaVine hella slept on didn’t matter who we matched up with him he was making his shots over the whole squad one thing I couldn’t stand is why did we repeatedly settle for 3 point shots down the stretch instead of taking it to the basket, we got out of dodge thanks to a couple 3s in the end from Williams ( who had a tremendous game ) and Al but I’m starting to worry about our struggles with closing out these types of games

  2. Nice sweater .
I enjoyed this win. We definitely saw the huge difference Rob makes. Can’t wait to see the best starting 5. I am begging Joe to stop pairing Brown with Brogdon though lol

  3. JT broke Hondo’s Celtic record for most points scored in the first half of a season tonight-Tatum had 1202 points at the close of tonight’s game. When you think about how many great scorers, Bird, Pierce, Russell to name a few, have played here that’s impressive. Back to tonight…Grant had to me what was one of his best games as a Celtic. And Al’s numbers don’t jump out at you, but when we needed a good play from him, old reliable was there! Getting a little tired of sweating it out in the 4th. How about a good old fashioned blowout vs NO or the Nets? 🙏🏻Thanks John🙏🏻☘️🔒

  4. I used to immediately watch the game highlights and wait to see your podcast on YouTube. Now, I find it more interesting to see your podcast and game evaluation and then watch the highlights! After your thoughts on the game, the highlights take on a new meaning! Thanks, John & Locked on, you set the pick about as good as the celtics on the floor!

  5. Can JB stop chucking up threes at this rate? 0-8 from 3 last night. He's streaky AF from 3 and has more cold nights than hot ones from deep. And the thing is …. he's efficient as hell in the midrange and great when attacking the basket…. they flashed a stat last night ….top 5 in the league. What in the world is wrong w having a little more DeRozan, Butler, Durant in your game? JB can and should be right there w those guys. All he has to do is either penetrate or give it up move and get it back at a different spot on the court. Okay, if you want to do a heat check to see if you've got it going from distance that night try once or twice but if it doesn't fall stop shooting them. JB is absolutely great player and can carry a team on a lot of nights but he can help the team even more when he shares it more in certain situations. He should concentrate on improving his passing and decisions just like JT did last year and that improvement for the most part has stuck

  6. Posting this before watching the video:
One silver lining im taking from this win and the Spurs win is that the Celtics have alwayss struggled to close out close games, especially against bad teams, but they still won these. Last season these close collapse games are losses 9/10 times

  7. Time Lord started and the Bull's center didn't bother trying to jump in the opening tip off

  8. I spotted you on Christmas Day vs Bucks when I attended my 2nd NBA game. First was vs Twolves and both games, I wore my IT #4 jersey 💪🏽💪🏽☘️. I saw you in your red shirt from my seat behind the announcers. After the game, i tried heading toward your way but you made it on the floor. I had lost my voice by then haha. Wanted a selfie haha it was a fun experience, 10/10 would go again ☘️☘️💪🏽 love the city of Boston
