Scottie Barnes is listed as a guard?
If the NBA had a 6’4 height limit. Derrick White would be Bill Russell.
I became aware of this a few days ago, and while the total number sounds good, I think it’s more impressive to look at where he stands on the leaderboard.
– After yesterday he’s 27th in the LEAGUE in total blocks
– he is within 10 blocks of Embiid, Gobert, John Collins and Jarrett Allen
– he is tied with Poeltl
– he has more blocks than Giannis, Nurkic, Mo Bamba, Plumlee, Bam, OG and a whole bunch of other guys noted for their defense
White is putting together a highlight defensive season right now. It’s pretty insane to have both him and Smart on the same team. I still don’t love him and Smart starting and getting the most minutes together because they are too similar and have the same limits offensively, but there is no question having the option to put Smart, White, Brown, Tatum and Rob Williams on the floor is a scary thing for other teams.
