‘**I need 44 to grow up**. I need Patrick Williams to grow up *today*, and it’s not on some shady shit either. It is on some, ‘I see it in you, everybody sees it in you’, what’s the problem? DeMar DeRozan going down with a quad strain should’ve been Patrick Williams feeling like it was his birthday. You are getting ready to go up against the Washington Wizards. Deni Avdija is a dude who got picked in your draft class *behind* you. A lot of people thought that the Bulls were looking at Deni Avdija before they got the fourth pick to select you.
You were supposed to go out there and kick everyone’s ass. You know Zach LaVine’s going to go put up shots from the perimeter and take some of that pressure off of you. You know Vuc is supposed to be getting the ball in the post, because there’s no Kristaps Porzingis, there’s no Daniel Gafford, even though he didn’t (that should’ve been a twenty-shot game for Vuc, twenty, easy).
With no DeMar DeRozan out there, another perimeter option is necessary. Come ON Pat, like… on the real. This-that was it, and there’s been too many games where this needs to be the game where he hasn’t had that game. It’s cool to do it for a week and a half scoring twelve, thirteen points and being the fourth option and all that, but when it’s time to kick it in gear- ’cause guess what? You think you’re going to get to the playoffs and everybody’s going to be healthy? There might be a game or two where you gotta be the man.
This ain’t high school. This ain’t college. And if you don’t give a shit about anybody else on this team, care about your money too. Everybody’s watching. You think people ain’t out there in the NBA waiting for you not to play well this season, and then the season after that, so they can get a premier physical talent for cheap? And then have you playing for your bread for the rest of your career? Like, that’s- that’s… as simple as it gets for me.
As talented as that dude is, whatever’s going on, it has to stop. It has to cease, ’cause they need him. They need him. They need him defensively, they need him offensively, and… you know… unfulfilled potential is one of the greatest sins in the world, and I hate to put that on him but man, you got all the potential in the world. You got it. And we see it. And we see the aggressive moments, and the flashes, but I can’t get to the fourth quarter of a game against a team that you should be mopping the floor with and you got four points. Can’t happen. Can’t be patting like… same way I don’t want to pat dudes on the back for playing defence, I can’t pat dudes on the back for scoring thirteen-fourteen points. That’s supposed to be the baseline right now for Pat. And I’m not putting that loss on him, but… they didn’t win because of him too.’

he’s right, this sub keeps saying “hurr durr lauri” anytime someone wants to criticize pat but lauri showed so much more in his first two seasons lmao.

All mental with Pat. I think he’d be pretty scary if he started playing angry.

With Pat it’s such a confidence thing. Watch any game where he makes a mistake early, like a bad pass that becomes a turnover or an open shot he just bricks. He fully wilts on offense and never tries again. If the team wants him to blossom into a real talent they need someone who can work purely on getting him mentally willing to fuck up a ton. Because it is going to happen, and he’ll need to learn to recover from it. Look at guys like Vooch, Zach and DeMar, when they make a mistake they clearly just move on and get ready to play more.

No matter how good Pat is on defense, he is probably the worst black hole in the league on offense. Even with his great FG % and 3PT %, his affect on offense is nonexistent. Even a minor increase in confidence won’t be enough. I think his stats will look good at age 27 but he has a lot to learn. To be fair, he should not be starting. But we don’t have a single PF on the roster.

It is interesting though. We gave Billy an extension, extended Zach, we’re keeping this core as it stands and they’ve got to produce.
DeMar is out and it’s test the team time. I want to see Pat, Ayo, and Coby step up offensively and defensively.
If this continues I’d honestly say start Coby because why not see what he can do?

Dude couldn’t even start in college. Not sure why everyone is still so high on him. He has shown almost no improvement at all.

Let’s hear the excuses all you Pat lievers. He’s too young, he’s the fourth option, his dog died. Blah blah blah. It’s his third year in the league and he’s a professional. It’s time to wake that dog up inside you.

As he should, this dude is not bringing it.
