  1. Russ or Vogel can’t have both brother. Lmao

All jokes aside, Vogel had the most restrictions of a coach I’ve ever seen. He couldn’t hire his own staff, couldn’t bench Russ. And was fired in a disgusting way, coaches around the league did not like how he was let go. So they hire Ham, used the whole summer to warm Russ up to coming of the bench. Became a front office mouthpiece saying; there is no trade this our team going forward. Russ is staying and he has plans for him bla bla. He’s not a good coach. Also how tf do you lose to Doc in the clutch twice 💀

Just odd to fire Vogel and not replace him with a proven commodity—why take the risk with an unproven coach with a small Championship window smh

  3. LeBrons7thRing

Nah they just chose the wrong coach once again

  4. Y’all begged for it.

Problem is still the same. Westbrook eating up 47 million dollars that could be used for decent players who know the pecking order.

  5. pessimist_lakers_fan

It always was. All they had to do was run back the 2021 team. Vogel was able to make that team #1 defense in the league while LeBron and AD were out. The FO did him dirty

  6. Malimanz

I didn’t mind them getting rid of Vogel. But it would be better to have a proven veteran coach because this is a veteran team

  7. ThisAnswerIsLit

Firing Vogel wasn’t the mistake. Firing him the embarrassing way we did was the mistake. Killed the possibility of Quinn Snyder

  8. simplenicc

Seems like the team tuned him out midway of last year. Vogel wasn’t the main problem, but he definitely wasn’t the solution

  9. LazyMom21

I’d like to say sorry right now for EVER saying something negative about Vogel.

  10. yungreezy4

Championship coaches don’t grow on trees.

  11. mordenak

They did Vogel dirty man. The man was no good at creating offensive plays, but his defensive strategies were solid. He got them a chip, they brought him Westbrook and told him to make it work, then canned his ass immediately after the last game before he even knew lol.

  12. Kevinc61

Vogel was a good coach, the front office is filled with fools that needed a fall guy. I hope he lands another job.

  13. GroundbreakingSir893

Didn’t any of you watch the games last year, it was FKing horrendous, this team is competitive every night and I don’t have to look at the stupid FKing faces Vogel made every game

  14. Eder_Cheddar

    No shit.

But y’all asked for blood and here we are.

    We reap what we sow.

  15. arthas_24

They were right to fire Vogel but not because of him being a bad coach but because the team composition no longer fits his coaching style.

It still amazes me how different the current team is compared to the 2020 championship team. I think the 2021 team was actually better than the 2020 they just got unlucky health wise and all they needed to do was to run it back (and maybe some very minor change).

  16. kevinkip

Imagine firing your championship coach lmao

  17. I tried to tell everyone in this sub that was hating on him, and stoked about Ham as a head coach.

Tried to warn every last mther fker in here, but you guys…

There’s a reason so many teams passed up on the Ham… now you know why.

  18. carnivalmatey

This guy won a championship. 100% would’ve called timeout

  19. odaschox

I agree but Vogel was running them 3-4 guard lineups and people were throwing him tomatoes and everything, he wasn’t good with the coaching and the offense his last year here, but the roster was abominable and the way how we fired him was embarassing, he didn’t deserve it and to be brushed all over his face at the last game of the season too. This FO has a talent for treating everyone we got a championship with like trash.

  20. I too miss the stagnant offense and 8 min scoring droughts every game .

  21. Choomeleon

He lost the team so this post is irrelevant. Plus he was weak, ham even set standards

  22. Vindicare605

Vogel was fired because of Westbrook, Russ wouldn’t listen to him and Frank didn’t like him much either.

The Lakers were stuck with Westbrook they couldn’t fire him and as we’ve discussed a thousand times before NO ONE ELSE WANTS HIM. So we were stuck with Westbrook, we had to get rid of the coach and find SOMEONE else that he’d play for and listen to.

Darvin Ham was hired on that basis alone, and he succeeded in what he was hired to do, to get Westbrook to come off of the bench and play like an actual teammate. He wasn’t hired for anything else, he was just hired to get Westbrook involved properly.

We’re seeing the limits of his coaching ability in all other facets pretty much every night though, and those other facets Vogel was clearly superior.

  23. spirax919

this team needed a BLACK coach who the players would respect. Yall still aint getting this

  24. Fridaywing

Okay. Alphabetical order. The first letter in a word of a comment. Shit. I’m counting each letter of the comment.

  25. JHeezy19

lmfao meanwhile this sub was after vogel’s blood last year.

  26. IForgotMyYogurt

“Firing our championship winning coach feels like a huge mistake”

    No way 🤯

  27. lakesinlosangeles

Dude he can’t save this team. Ham deserves blame for the losses for sure but if we had a decent roster we’d never been in those situations in the first place

  28. Background_Nature_32

Vogel was never the problem. The problem was and has always been Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka.

  29. Sin-A-Bun

The mistake was getting Russ and letting our team built on great D just melt away. We had a formula that won a fucking championship and Rob blew it up.

  30. Dismal_Committee_696

No it wasnt a mistake but hiring another coach that has no idea what hes doing is

  31. collapse1122

ham was hired to coach russ thats it. u can tell , all that shit about facts over feeling is just bullshit.

  32. Plumbanddumb

WOW!!!!. Just a while ago, everyone on this sub wanted him gone. Everyone here said it was his fault. Can’t have your cake and eat it too kids.

  33. wow who would’ve thought, firing a coach that won us a ring apparently not a great move

  34. Chance_Ad1417

Frank Vogel was not a good coach. There’s a reason Indiana, Orlando and the Lakers fired him. Get over it
