>Sources said Doncic, who hasn’t shown a desire to be involved in personnel matters in the past, has strongly indicated he wants the Mavs to upgrade before the Feb. 9 trade deadline.
>Of course, that’s easier said than done for a team that still owes the Knicks a pick to complete the Porzingis deal.
>The Mavs are well aware of a modern NBA math problem: Unhappy stars who have only two guaranteed years remaining on their contracts have leverage if they’re looking to leave. For reference, see Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans or James Harden and the Houston Rockets.
>That doesn’t necessarily mean Doncic will request a trade if the Mavs haven’t put a contender-quality supporting cast in place by the summer of 2024. But the Mavs, like the Hawks with Young, surely don’t want to fiddle around and find out.
>For the Mavs in particular, that means having to balance trying to put the most competitive roster in place this season against diminishing the potential to deal for a co-star in the near future. The latter would likely require a bundle of first-round picks, so the Mavs must be extremely selective while considering giving up a pick now.
According to ESPN Mavs insider Tim MacMahon, Dallas seems like they’re under immense pressure from Luka to get a deal done, hope Masai and Bobby can extract premium return like Ainge did in Utah.

There’s no one on the Mavs I’d want aside from Luka and if they upgrade, all of their picks will be late first rounders. It would have to be several firsts for Gary or FVV to make that worth it, but they more than likely want OG.
Wood, Green/Hardy and a pick in 2025?
Doncic for FVV
there’s a brunson sized hole on the mavs and we have a brunson sized player on our roster
I dont see a path to a trade with the Mavs for any of our guys. They dont have a 2023 pick and they dont have any good young players to send us back.
Cant really see us getting involved unless a third team can facilitiate.
Oh my god oh my god oh my god these are the kinds of situations where bad Gary Trent deals are made I hope we are on the phone
I don’t see them able to do a trade outside of maybe GTJ or Boucher
They have no assets to trade
Trent for Hardaway Jr, an unprotected 1st and a 2nd
They have nothing to offer us other than late-round picks
Yea, their team is dog shit outside of luka
Siakam and og for luka?
There is only 4 teams I can really see making a move on our players and Dallas don’t got the assets to be one.
