If you are starting a franchise tomorrow would you take Lauri Markkanen or Donovan Mitchell? #askloj

There’s another one between Gobert and Kessler… I won’t even bother

Similar ages. I vote Donovan based on the volume of past performance, but Lauri’s positional relevance and un-tapped potential are tantalizing.

Donovan is the better player, I have my own philosophy of placing more value on length so I would choose Lauri. I think it’s easier to win in the league with your best players being taller rather than a guard. (Steph is a outlier ofc in my eyes)

While I don’t think we’ve seen either one’s ceiling, Donovan is the safer bet.

It depends on in which city, to know which version of Don we would get.

Depends on where you’re starting the franchise. If it’s Utah I’d go Lauri…anywhere else I go Don lol

Donovan, but I wouldn’t be mad at all if we picked Lauri right before him in a draft.

Donovan is more capable of taking over the game because he can have the ball in his hands more. He’s also got an incredible drive and ability to improve. Lauri obviously is also good at working in elements of his game, but he hasn’t proven yet that he can carry a team the way Don can

Donovan is already HoF bound… It would take a horrific injury to push him off that track

Those dudes don’t grow on trees

  10. Donny, I’m surprised the vote is even this close tbh. No offense to Lauri, but Donovan has proven that he can be *that* dude basically right from the jump, and especially in the playoffs. Even though it didn’t end the way we wanted, Donovan was still the number 1 option on the first seed in the west and it wasn’t a fluke. Meanwhile Lauri is only just blossoming. If there was like a big age difference or something I could see why you might bank on the younger guy for the potential, but Lauri is only like a year younger so that isn’t even a huge factor imo
