I was all the way in on the Nowell hype train last season and into the offseason. I thought he was primed for a monster season this year.
But my god he’s been a disappointment. There’s nothing on the court that he does well. I was fine with the idea of him being a one-dimensional bucket getter because he was so efficient and so explosive in getting to the rim. But he’s a guard who cant playmake, cant defend, cant outrebound the guys he’s guarding, and now can’t score.
I know right now they’re not exactly flush with depth at guard, but at some point they just need to consider reducing his minutes. He has been actively losing them games this year. I just refuse to believe that Moore Jr. couldn’t tap into at least a little bit of Nowell’s minutes.
He’s just a complete black hole out there rn.
Package him with Naz in a trade. I doubt he adds any value to the trade, but atleast he can’t hurt us anymore.
Nowell has made some really nice defensive plays this year and is at least physical on the perimeter unlike DLo. I dont think he is as bad on D as people say. His unwillingness to make plays for others is definitely concerning given he is pretty good at it…
This sub wanted to give him a full mid-level extension. I will never forget the hopium from this summer. Good times.
Embarrassing. Millions on the line and this guy has not just regressed slightly, but he’s fallen off a cliff.
I think there’s a good chance we keep him around and resign him on a Vanderbilt type deal just incase he figures it out & turns things around.
I’m absolutely tired of watching him play, but his value is at its lowest, I’m not even sure we get a 2nd rounder from anyone for him. When you have the lack of assets that we now have, you might as well try and buy low and hope he remembers how to play basketball again.
This staff/Iowa has proven it can get guys to improve so you might as well bet on your staff, because if he does figure it out he can probably be Jordan Clarkson, and that could be superrr valuable on a cheap contract.
But for now for the love of god give Wendell his minutes, at least some of them.

He needs reduced minutes, how you shoot worse than Westbrook I have no idea. Wendell Moore clamped Ja Morant then got sent back to the gulag immediately. I’m far more confident letting Moore develop than watching Jaylen lose more confidence every game
Nowell is sliding by his peak. He’s been out of g league for a while now and approaching vet status. If he wants to stay in the league he needs to produce points because that’s all he has banked on since we first saw him. He never learned to get assists or be a lockdown. He’s reminds me of a broke Kevin Johnson.
Never been in on the hype train ever, but DAMN that stat is fucking wild man. It means he’s really not very good at shooting. I mean Westbrook is OVER 7% HIGHER!
I hope he can put in the practice to get better.
I’m not defending Nowell because he’s been bad, but there is also the element that he seems to miss every open shot but hit contested shots at a higher clip
Nobody says shit about JN its Rudy this, Dlo that but #4 is just brutal to watch. Can’t shoot jumpers, 3’s or play D. ONLY thing he does is drive to the basket….that’s it! They all say you can’t tell him to stop shooting but I’m here to tell you PLEASE STOP SHOOTING ANYTHING OUTSIDE THE PAINT! Work on you fkn shot during blowouts not wasting possessions!
Some of y’all came at me this off-season when I said Nowell was getting too hyped. Even said I thought Rivers was/would be better and it wasn’t well received
I don’t know what the agenda is with some people lately.
Nowell should be considered developing still since this is basically his first season with a rotation role and this team is utterly screwed up across the board at the moment.
Why are people attacking players like Nowell and Gobert so much? Nowell is cheap and he’s getting more time finally due to injuries, but those injuries also impact his usage role. Gobert is a bank and while I can see holding bankers to it, it’s quite obviously more an issue with the rest of our underdeveloped players.
Are these people going after our own players like Dlo stans trying to load up complaints on someone other than the least defending, least rebounding, least boxing out player starting on this team? Because He’s still the reason we are losing.
