Trae doesn’t seem particularly well liked by his peers but you could tell there was respect for him around the league following the ECF run. The demonstration that he was that guy was enough to get these guys to vote for him despite their personal feelings, whatever they may be. However a bad playoff run followed by a bad season full of constant turmoil may allow a lot of guys who don’t fuck with him like that to go eh he’s a locker room issue etc I’d rather have Brunson or Haliburton. Which is their right to vote so, but it’s simply politics and I wouldn’t take that shit seriously. A lot of players in the NBA are pretty much BallDontStop Instagram reply guys with incredible talent and athleticism so it’d make sense they’d vote in a way that ends up with DeRozan in 4th for example.
Ultimately I don’t think this should phase anyone, but I hope Trae uses it as motivation at the very least.
