    >**Nuggets’ decision to make**

    >After his name was discussed in trade conversations around last June’s NBA Draft, Denver has begun gauging the trade value of second-year guard Bones Hyland, sources told Yahoo Sports. The Nuggets have something of a decision to make regarding the team’s backup point guard position, previously held by Monte Morris — who was traded to Washington this past offseason — as Hyland and standout free-agent acquisition Bruce Brown have both proven their ability to function as Denver’s reserve lead ball-handler.

    >Like Hart, Brown is expected to decline his $6.9 million player option for next season, which could make it difficult for the Nuggets to retain the versatile swingman. While Hyland still has two more years remaining on his rookie deal, an anticipation of Brown’s next payday, plus Hyland’s upcoming second contract, has the tax-conscious Nuggets considering their options in the backcourt. Occasional clashes between Hyland and head coach Michael Malone’s old-school mentality have also been a factor in Denver’s trade dialogue, sources said.

    >In exchange for Hyland, the Nuggets have expressed an interest in defensive-minded frontcourt players, sources said, and will search for a player plus a first-round pick. Moving Hyland, while prepared for the risk of losing Brown in free agency, will also have Denver considering returns that could net another reserve point guard, sources said. As far as potential suitors, former Denver president Tim Connelly, now piloting the Timberwolves’ front office, is still considered a big supporter of Hyland.

Not a fan of trading bones. This guy has got some serious potential

I am on the don’t trade Bones court unless we get a real defensive player(not rental) to help us get the ship this year.

Why it gotta be my favorite player?

  4. BlindManBaldwin

Trading Bones would be dumb. Trading Bones for a rental would be really dumb. Trading Bones for a rental because of tax reasons would be Broncos-level dumb.

The problem with Bones is he’s kind of a project. He has great potential and could be a very good player in a couple years. But right now he is too inconsistent to rely upon come playoff time. We’re trying to win now.

  6. UnderratedNightmare

I know it could help us. I know it would most certainly let Bones take the keys and show off his talent. I still hate it.

  7. The_NGUYENNER

Will be super sad to see him go, but I get it. The windows just aren’t matching up… and he also doesn’t seem as happy on the court as he used to be.

That being said, I personally wouldn’t trade him because we’ll need him more next year with Bruce gone, and he’s only in his second year making typical young-player mistakes… yet is already an elite shooter even with his slumps

Don’t like this at all. I know he’s been on a cold streak, but someone coming off the bench who can easily drop 15-20 points is HUGE in the playoffs.

Having an offensive spark like Bones off the bench makes it easier to give guys like Jokic and Murray some extra rest during playoff time

Hate it. BUT, this is part of being a good team. Hard to be win now and grow players; remember Golden State beung praised for it ladt year with Moody and Poole?

The trade would have to be a slam dunk but its not impossible to see value. A first is not just a first, but also a trade piece we currently lack.

Slo-mo and a first? I will still cry, but i would understand.

if its between him and championship, trade him. this is a perfect time to go all in. NO PROJECT, NO Defensive LIABILITY, NO pouting Teenager. Go for championship now. Look what the Bucks did to win that championship. get some dogs to surround Giannis

Yikes, you never want to trade a guy on a rookie contract–who is already contributing–and who is likely to get a lot better. Bones is an interesting case b/c he’s so tantalizing yet also not really ready for a title run. I think he’ll get a lot fewer minutes in the playoffs. Longterm, however, I imagine that he’s gonna be terrific, a natural scorer, the type of guy every team wants.

That said, I could see one good reason to trade Bones Hyland: the return is somehow The Perfect Piece, the guy who will shore up our greatest weakness and help Denver win a title THIS YEAR.

Because guys? Winning just one title is worth giving up Bones’ longterm potential, even if it stings a bit. Anybody think Toronto regrets trading for the guy who got them their ring? He’s gone now, but the championship glow will never fade.

By the way, I don’t know who The Perfect Piece is. A really good center who will definitely walk away next summer b/c he’s too good to be a backup? Like Poetl? Is there a team out there ready to punt a guy like that for Bones Hyland? Of course the Nuggets are checking on it.

I’d add that if all the pieces coming and going lead to enough cap room to re-sign Bruce Brown, I’m all for it. He is doing more to help Denver win games than Bones, and that is likely true next year also.

  12. Seems kinda dumb since we traded Monte who was on a good contract. Would that move Bruce to the backup PG or will they run Ish if they did?

  13. We’d be selling Bones low, so that’s reason one why it’s not a great idea to trade him. Reason two? He’s EXACTLY the type of player who will come back to fuck the Nuggets up every time we play him. No thank you.

  14. ListenToTheMuzak

If you look at the on-off stuff. He is the worst guy in the rotation.

    even lineups that should work like (**K. Caldwell-Pope – A. Gordon – N. Jokic – B. Brown – B. Hyland)** don’t.

  15. Even if they were gouging options, seems pretty bizarre to have it leak out and potentially disrupt team cohesion and atmosphere, obviously fans don’t know the locker room, but seems like the vibes are good.

Would really love to keep Bones whatever happens

  16. OUEngineer17

Bones has certainly shown a ton of potential and can be fun to watch, but hearing this news brings me back to a recent game where Bruce was wide open in the corner and Bones took a really difficult shot instead. Bruce was livid, of course.

  17. DirkolaJokictzki

I would say we will never trade Bones, but the last guy I said that about got traded.

I don’t trust Ish Smith to man the bench. Brown should be our super reserve and not the 1 guard on the backup unit. If we do trade Bones, I’d want a legit 6th man type player. They’d have to gel well with Brown, and ideally they’d be a good shooter. The list of players like that in this league is very low. When you filter by players within the Bones + Ish salary range, it might literally be zero players. Better to keep Bones and let him grow.

  18. I don’t want to trade him, but if we do, it better be for some real value. Not an expiring Naz Reid straight up

  19. floatius

Conflicted. Def love Bones but he’s still more of a project than a win-now guy and we’re a team looking to take home a chip soon. If we have a good opportunity to flip him to a rebuilding team for something that helps us win now we may have to take it. All depends on the offers of course

  20. number15ismyfather

If they do trade Bones should be for a young, athletic wing and then they gotta do whatever it takes to keep Bruce Brown in FA not even exaggerating that much when I say that trading Bones for a rental who can leave in a year or two and then losing Brown this offseason would be a disaster

  21. Kitchen_Lion4620

If the team want to move on from bones I get it, they know the situation WAYYYYY better than I do.

I think you are going to have either trade him for a first and then send that out with a TPE(unlikely)

Or package bones with some other money if we are going to get a veteran player that contributes now.

  22. bschwa1439

I trust this front office and if trading Bones is the move, it’s the right move. I’m here for a championship and nothing less.

  23. Dank_Kushington

Wtf Bones is legit don’t trade him
