Today’s Mavericks trade rumors come with the 2023 NBA trade deadline one week from today! Dorian Finney-Smith has been the most talked about Dallas Mavericks player as of late, and could be the key to the Mavs landing a second star to pair with Luka Doncic. DeAndre Ayton’s name has been mentioned as someone the Mavs would be interested in, whether it be before the NBA trade deadline or in the summer when 2023 NBA free agency begins. Tim MacMahon via the Lowe Post on DeAndre Ayton:
“Deandre Ayton is certainly interesting, and he can veto any trade this year because he signed that extension. I don’t know that there’s a very long list that he would veto. I think that it is reasonable to assume, based on the way things played out this summer and some of the comments that he made, that he might not see Phoenix as his long-term home. Certainly, he wanted to go to Indiana. Whether that happens now or not, I don’t know. It is interesting. He is a name I’ve heard around the Mavericks, and I think that would have to be a later than right now type of situation.”

Marc Stein via This League UNCUT Podcast on Dorian Finney-Smith trade rumors:
“Based on everything I’ve heard on the Dorian Finney-Smith front, they are certainly more prepared to discuss Finney-Smith. But I don’t think Utah is in breathless pursuit of Finney-Smith as it’s been described. I think the Jazz are fans of his, but they’re not in a win-now situation. They’ve been described as a little more thirsty for Dorian Finney-Smith as they actually are.”

  1. Mavs have Players. They need Stop Crying and Play. What's Problem? 2nd Go To Guy? Scared players?

  2. Prob a N. But I think we might to get something going with CHI. Get Zach and Andre here and give up JMcG, DFS, THjr and 1st

  3. I’m all in if we get Ayton and Reddish.. that will be a young talented roster.. we can develop Reddish and you get your Center for the long hall with Luka.. plus you have Green and you have Hardy that would be your young core.. also if Ayton is to rich for you go get Mo Momaba..

  4. Ayton is really not an ideal option, but also not a bad one, if we can get him for the suggested deal we would do that immediately, but i dont think its enough value for Ayton. I still think we should do all we can to get Markkanen, THJ+DFS+Hardy+1st could be interesting enough for the Jazz to pull the trigger. DFS seems to have reached his ceiling and is at the top of his value right now, he is a good but by now slightly overrated defender and on offense he just does not only disappear, but becomes a problem everytime he has to dribble the ball or drives to the basket. Still we dont really have many positive trade pieces, thj, Bertans, Mcgee and bullock are all overpaid and not very attractive trade targets, they are all rather contracts you have to pay for to off-load. That leaves DFS, Hardy, Maxi and Green as somewhat attractive trade pieces. Trading maxi and Green would be tough on this team because they are both incredible offensive fits and our 2 best defensive players, so i would rather not move either of them unless it is for an all-star level player that is also a good fit next to luka. That leaves Hardy, DFS and the few picks we have and that just does not seem enough to get anybody significant. I still think the mavs should rather retool and flip some of their bad contracts into other bad contracts with more upside, like evan fournier or Gordan hayward.

  5. I’d try and snag DeRozen and Caruso from Chicago. They’re in a bad place so they might be willing to let go of cap with small contracts

  6. I think with Ayton he plugs alot of our holes, he is a competent center who can rebound and run the pnr

  7. Send Tim,Davis,Javle,Reggie and Dewight to Charlotte for terry,Brendon,Kelly, and Plumlee salaries match and improves mavericks and helps Charlotte clear their roster and makes the chase for the top pick more realistic

  8. The biggest misconception everyone has is that the Mavs don’t have anything to make a big move and that is not true. Some combination of any of these players DoeDoe, Spencer, Wood, Hardy and 2 firsts can land an all star player however a package of all of them can land you a superstar and still have THJ, Bullock, Frank, Powell, McGee, Bertans to trade as well for better role players or to trade for salary cap relief so you can fill out the roster next season in FA. Everyone is scared of not giving this guy or that guy up and the only 2 guys who I wouldn’t trade are Luka and Green everyone else can go. Can’t be hesitant I’m sure Luka would appreciate a front office doing whatever is necessary to build a proper team around him.
