In another channel, some Suns fans were fussing and laughing about 3 first round picks being offered for OG. They are skeptical that it happened (maybe it was the Nets?). Anyway, they seem to have no idea what a Sellers Market is capable of doing and that the Pelicans and other teams will be bidding (maybe out bidding their Suns team?). This is what I said to them as a bigger picture:
"As a Raptors fan, I'm excited for this coming week and the bidding war heating up! So many teams can add a piece or two to try to go deep into the playoffs. The question comes down to how badly do some of the team owners and GMs want the competitive advantage of beefing up. If the Suns don't want to pay a high price then they will simply get out bid by others that will. Nets fans know what I'm talking about. In the off season, the Cavs didn't mess around for Donovan Mitchell while the Nets did. This season has created an even stronger Sellers Market. In a Sellers Market, with so many more Buyers than Sellers, we can expect aggressive bidding and likely over pay returns for our Raptor trades."
"So if you are a fan of a Buying Team then just how badly do you want your team to make a deep playoff run instead of other teams? Maybe you end up being champions? What's that worth?"
The Raptors have told teams to wait after the west coast trip.. The Pelicans are 1-9 last 10 and the Grizzlies are 4-6.. The Grizzlies need his leadership because they are all flash no glue.. And no Steve Adam's

All these reports and rumors are theoretical and wishful thinking. These reporters are paid to speculate and create a bunch of clickbait media content that only acts as a smokescreen for the real negotiations going on behind the scenes… Just because other teams are interested in our player, doesn't make it likely that he is going to get traded. Who wouldn't want OG? But the starting point for our negotiations, I'm assuming, is we don't have to trade anyone. We have nothing to lose. Why swing for the fences to acquire a bunch of crap and give up one of your best players?

OG leaving would be terrible for his career. In Toronto he can still be a top option. In New Orleans he will be behind Zion, Ingram, McCollum – so he will forever become a 3 and D player and not the guy. Phoenix same, Booker, Bridges, Paul at least for the new year or two and Deandre Ayton.

The issue with the Raptors core is essentially its lack of variance in ability. Four or five of the same height, same reach, positionless basketballer's each an All-Star, future All-Star, or NBA Championship winner. They are the blunt objects of the NBA… they will give you a solid hit every time, but you don't need to worry about them chewing you up.
OG's gripes come straight out of this. He would rather be a solid #3 option behind a superstar or two and some solid role players than fighting amongst four or five guys who each think they should be the first or second options. We need to deal any two or three of our starters and bring in a superstar. Or we can suck while we wait for Scotty to maybe be that guy.
Ayton has a consistent history of disappearing in too many games to feel good about acquiring

Pelicans & Grizzlies have the best trade package for OG. Let's see who wins in this bidding war. Masai Ujiri & Bobby Webster will get the best package for OG – they know this trade deadline business
Unless their name is embiid or jokic, you can’t have a Center on your team earning 30+ mil in todays nba. Ayton has the talent and skills to be dominant, but he does not play with passion. Pass.
Half the trade talks are BS. 1 in 20 trades we hear about even happen. Its the Trade that we weren't talking about that is dope. (Sabonis ,Halliburrton, Mitchell) Everyone is reported to be in talks with everybody cmon. Who are your sources that say OG wants out? Cmon man

Need a 1st rounder ASAP!!!… Not trade OG, but Freddy or Siakam has to go… Among the worst TS% in the clutch right now, yet Scottie having among the best TS% in the clutch… Either trade Freddy or Siakam for 2 guys for rotation (prefer a sharpshooter/anchor big man) & a 1st rounder (two 1st rounder for 2023 is huge)… Plus stretched the luxury tax… For me, Freddy almost a peak & is undrafted…
