  1. Good.

He gets a lot of unfounded hate on this subreddit from people who don’t understand just how important he is to our matchups in the East, especially Giannis and KD.

He also seems to be better at attacking closeouts this year than last, even if the stats don’t show it.

    Grant “3 & D & M(uscles)” Williams is a Celtic for life.

  3. GrantWilliams85

Not me quietly securing the bag 🙈

  4. DrKedorkian

The “source” who goes by the name rant-gay illiams-way also mentioned “they should just pay him what he wants ’cause he’s really good.”

  5. Lopsided-Mobile2197

He cannot be Al Horford’s replacement. It simply won’t work

  6. I_Set_3_Alarms

I think come the playoffs we’ll come to appreciate Grant more again. His corner threes and defending KD/Giannis will always be helpful

  7. Jaklin765

Celtics would be foolish to let him go. Grant is a tried and true CELTIC. He’s got that dog in him. Role wise he may be a Horford replacement but mentality wise he’s Smart’s protege for sure.

  8. Beantown00

Grant plays completely different than Al does tho lmao. Al is a lot bigger, is a good passer, and better defender

I hope he resigns and idc about the money or if it’s considered an overpay. We’re a contender and will be in cap hell forever basically. I just don’t see him as a Al horford replacement though, it’s disrespectful to Al horford and I just don’t see him ever being that useful of a player. Al is really really incredibly versatile in a way that most players don’t ever achieve. I really don’t see grant being a quality starter because of his height and I just don’t see him being more than a role player for us, albeit a useful one.

    *NBA trade season, summarized*

    **No one:**

**Team** (via beat reporter): We love our expiring bench player that we failed to extend! So fucking much! We think he is a big part of our future. Incidentally I suppose that implies he is super valuable!

  11. Jpgamerguy90

He’s got very limited offensive game and at this point is very much a nice piece off the bench but as a starter I’m more bullish. Doesn’t create for others, can’t create for himself, limited post game and can be bullied in the post and seems lackadaisical on the glass at times.

Solid piece but “horford replacement,” lol no.

  12. Anyone that’s been down on Grant this season needs to try to see things from his point of view.

He is absolutely trying to do too much at times but it’s likely things that the coaching staff has asked him to add to his game. A turnover here or a bad floater attempt there looks bad at that given moment but, in the grand scheme of things, it’s signs of growth.

I wanna see Grant as a Celtics lifer.

Aside from his skills as a player and improvements as he ages into the league, his friendship and younger brother role he plays for the Jays, specifically Jayson, is a huge piece of the team’s chemistry.

It’s also super helpful that he’s a solid rotation piece and could age into a starter in a few years, which times out perfectly for our team’s timeline.

  14. endlesscdqotw

I like Grant, but Horford replacement is delusional af.

Al was a legit all star and DPOY candidate during his peak as a Celtic.

I’d be really surprised if Grant could even get to the level of Al last season consistently

  15. Dude is in love with JT, he’s not going anywhere.

  16. Bada__Ping

Grant Williams hitting that 3 late in Q4 last night secured my 8-leg single game parlay and won me a decent amount of money. thanks grant!

  17. Rebil2017

You guys are looking at this all wrong, he won’t replace AL with his play, he’ll replace him as the team Dad

  18. tarheel343

I love Grant. I hope he’s a Celtics lifer. He fits well on this team and the guys seem to love him.

  19. sully9614

Can there be a clause to limit the amount of time he can complain to a ref per game? Lol love him but he does it way too much for a role player

  20. Revolutionary_Net436

His D is way to underrated (pause)

  21. PartyPo1s0n

I got downvoted yesterday for saying this.

Grant’s development very much reminds me of JB’s where it’s clear he adds a new thing to his game every offseason. This year it’s been creation off the dribble. He is no longer a static perimeter shooter but a legitimate sidestep threat that can create his own open looks. He is also now able to drive the paint and score inside but the finishing touch at the rim isn’t quite there yet. I expect that to be what he focuses on next, and would not be surprised at all if in 2024 he’s suddenly unstoppable in the post.

I said a couple years ago when everyone was shitting on him after his sophomore slump that I would want Grant on the team even if he was the 15th man because he has the best attitude you can have. He is an extremely hard worker, but he doesn’t just work for himself either. He targets whatever skill he thinks would be most useful to being able to offer the team. And beyond that he is amazing for the culture and locker room with his positivity and enthusiasm. He’s worth whatever price tag he wants.

  23. He has always been, and always will be, a gem.
    Lucky to have him
