And this is the absolutely the right call. This is how negotiations go. Nets have no leverage. 1st round picks AND Reaves/Max is a strict no go. At the end if they still arent budging, Max maybe included as a last resort but No Reaves. Absolutely not.

  1. Both of those players should be considered worth a 15-24 first round pick in their own right.

  2. Trentrid

As was our stance with THT when he was still a fan favorite, and everyone gives the FO crap for not selling high on him.

It baffles me that people on Twitter undervalue Reaves and Max so much. Their contracts are team friendly, they want to play here, they have great potential but these casuals are like ‘ship everyone, We don’t care, we want Kyrie’

We need to keep youngsters to develop. Don’t throw them away so much unnecessarily.

  4. trappy-potter

Reaves sure but Christie? Kyrie will more than make up for that

  5. kasaan110

Umm you do realize both picks will be given up to get kyrie.

  6. kennnn394

Austin reaves and max should not be a deal breaker for kyrie

  7. Gotta keep AR. And I am trying my best to keep Maxy, but I am not letting Kyrie get-out-of-russ-jail-card deal fall through if Maxy is a sticking point. Maybe, take Lonnie and give us either curry or harris back.

  8. Eric_T_Meraki

If it’s Max I could see the front office doing it. The Nets would need to trade another player with Ky like Seth or Harris. Getting a knockdown shooter out of it too would be a win.

  9. Teclysia

Westbrook, Lonnie, 2 1st unprotected for Harris and Kyrie. We will see though

  10. You might not want to hear this but I think they might consider trading Reaves over Christie because at the end of this year they will need to pay up for Reaves and they won’t for Christie, and if they are trading 2 firsts + Reaves, they are definitely committing to paying Kyrie the max + an increased contract for Rui, etc.

  11. What makes Lakers fans believe Kyrie wont pull another stunt like he has at literally every place hes ever played? Hes a total loose cannon.

  12. Rentfreelakerfan

“Leverage” is yall favorite word lol

  13. Glinez09

if lakers unloading all the picks asset they have.then it’s better to keep some young guys on the roster..

reaves fits really well with lebron and I also like max play defensively.. just need ham to play him more..

  14. saraza1270

AR stays and retires as Lakers.

He is untouchable so is Christie regardless of whoever it is.

  15. Silver_Protection_29

If fucking Christie is the reason why we don’t get Kyrie Irving I’m done man

  16. davensdad

Wish Pelinka had such balls back then during negotiation with Wizards and Pelicans 🤦🏻‍♂️

  17. Gristle__McThornbody

Rather give up Bev. He is cool with KD and he would approve Bev on the team.

  18. Yeah F that. I’d give up the FRPs but no way on AR or Max. Young guys on rookie contracts are extremely valuable. Also, they’re generally good guys who don’t cause trouble and just play. They can shoot, defend, have been improving each year. Can’t keep giving up guys like this.

Still sore about losing Caruso for nothing. And Bulls are saying they would trade him back for an unprotected first!

  19. I will say this to anyone that will listen to me: Austin Reaves is the most exciting thing about the Lakers this season. It kills me when he’s on the floor with any combination of Russ, Dennis and Pat Bev. The disrespect is palpable.

  20. Apart-Bad-5446

It’s more than just this season. The Lakers have virtually no cap space next season for a player even close to Kyrie’s talent. If they can get Kyrie, it would be to fill up Russ’s salary and then they can sign Kyrie using his bird rights. And I completely understand the hesitancy to offer Kyrie a max contract but if it’s ever going to work, it would be in the Lakers playing alongside LeBron and AD. Imagine a scenario if the Lakers don’t make this Kyrie trade. They walk into this upcoming offseason with little cap space and only Rui, LeBron, AD, Damian Jones, and Max Christie on their roster. This team ain’t winning anything, anyways. Worst case scenario, you’re stuck with Kyrie for five years but the best case scenario is you can compete for the title for the next 3-5 years assuming the Lakers continue adding the right pieces.

  21. Bigrab2019

Depends if Jeanie was actually gonna extend them or let them walk like Caruso.

They’re on short contracts thanks to Pelinka.

  22. MrPino777

If it’s between Austin and Max I’d keep Max and let Reaves go. Austin is older and gonna have to be paid this offseason at least we have Max for another yr on a cheap deal.

  23. thevisitor

Dude we cant even watch any of our young drafted players grow because the moment they show any promise all these teams salivate for them in deals. Buzz off please let me see Austin and Max grow on this team lol

  24. HeaterWylin

Throw in KD and I might think about it. MIGHT

  25. LordBri14

I would trade max and scottie pippen jr…. good call on trying to keep reaves

  26. Extension-Button5274

Own those frauds Rob. They better take those 2 middle schoolers Bev and brickbrook and be happy. They’re not getting a better offer on their table

  27. LilSmoke23

Y’all are delusional lmao. No way in hell would I decline a kyrie trade because Austin fucking Reaves. I now understand why other teams say we severely overate our players compared to reality. Yes Reaves us a great young high iq player but cmon now lmao.. and Ik I’m gone get downvoted but are y’all serious lmao I’ma get ptsd from all the trades we could’ve did but declined because of fucking THT 🤣

  28. lionking25

FO needs to realise Kyrie is not the first option, or not even the best option. We should keep other trade options open in order to prevent the Leonard shit happens again.

  29. rosegolded

nets really have no leverage, kyrie will just leave in the offseason. hope rob gives them pennies on the dollar.
