Figures. That extension was definitely questionable when we offered it, it’ll be hard to move him I think unless he’s part of a bigger package.

  2. GuyIncognito211

Yup. That extension wasn’t good, unnecessarily long

If we really wanted to move him we’d have to give up an asset or two to entice a team

  3. There’s so much talk about trading Nurk but I don’t see why we move him. There isn’t any worthwhile upgrades out there that we could reasonably go after.

I think it’ll be much more likely to move him in the summer when teams have a better idea of what their future roster will be and have more tools than at the deadline.

Plumlee would be solid. A backup center. Problem solved

If we have to give up assets, keep him. Try to get a real backup C

If there’s not a move for him, I think we just count our losses and try again in the off-season.

If we add depth now we can at least keep him resting/healing on the bench, so that when he can play he’s not a complete negative limping around.

Nurk is a very serviceable starting center. We do need a better closing center… a guy like Vando. Most good teams that don’t have an all star center close small and faster.

I’ll probably take a 7 foot pole over Nurkic at this point

This is it- it’s not like Hart where he’s a good player but would fit better elsewhere, Nurk isn’t appealing for other teams. Its hard to see a deal worthwhile for us and another team given the lack of upgrades available. A lot of people want a better closing C which I think is fair, I think a starting PF (with Grant at SF) would be ideal and we can make something happen with Hart.

The league knows Nurk with his current contract isn’t it. Yet our fan base has some real rose-tinted, homer glasses on about him. Bummer.

  12. bromonium

I mean we keep him and just use him less. Look at the Grizz and Adams. Not the end of the world.

  13. FakeFan07

Yeah, Nurk doesn’t hold much value at all. Inconsistent, injured yearly, overpaid center. Sucks but it’s the truth.

If I were in the room, I would advocate for seeing what Nurk assets could bring back in a trade (ie take calls) but I would not be itching to trade him. He’s a good starting center on a team-friendly deal and he has stretches of being very good.

Get him out no matter what, he’s actually a bum

  16. peccaryiaye

Like I’ve been saying. He’s more valuable to us than other teams. No one is dying for an inefficient, slow, injury prone center. But he works out alright here because of his relationship with Dame basically.

  17. This isn’t surprising. Just move on from thinking about trading him. And find pieces that fit around him. And get another backup!

  18. How incredibly unsurprising that there’s no interest in Nurk. Sucks for us though.

  19. blazers-6th-man

Didn’t he say that he only wants to play in the NBA if it’s with Dame? I seriously doubt that teams will want to trade for him given that.

A lot if people seemed to think the Nurk contract was a good deal. I personally thought he should be in the $12-13M range.

  21. FAX_ME_YOUR_BOTTOM

I think it’s hilarious the percentage people are jumping on this claim y’all thought Nurk’s extension was some terrible move at the time. Nurk is a valuable player for us, he makes mistakes like anyone else, but when everything is clicking he is a force. I hope this stays up so you can remember how dumb these takes are in a few months
