    John Collins to Utah, please.

Also, half the roster should be moved by Thursday.

    GAME NOTES:

-Starting in the first quarter, Clarkson had some nifty finishes in the paint. I’m glad that he is starting the games attacking in the paint rather than settling for 3 point looks that aren’t the best. However, as the game went on, even his paint looks were bad. He only made 5 shots, all in the paint, and overall shot 7-14 in the paint. His looks just weren’t good.

-To go in further on Clarkson, he just didn’t play good tonight and didn’t make any good decisions outside of the first quarter. I counted twice in the second half where we had a numbers advantage and the ball didn’t move in Clarkson’s hands and settling for a tough paint shot. Rather than take advantage and find the open man, he did it himself. He went 0-5 in the third quarter alone.

-Is this Udoka Azubuike’s first real minutes this season? He didn’t score, got burned defensively, and looked gassed after 2-3 times down the court. 9 minutes, no shot attempts, 2 rebounds.

-With Vando out, we rolled out some weird lineups in the first 3 quarters:

    1)Udoka-Gay-Sexton-Beasley-Clarson

    2)Udoka-Lauri-Gay-Sexton-Beasley

    3)Lauri-Gay-Sexton-Beasley-Agbaji

-That last lineup with Lauri at C was terrible defensively and wasn’t able to get any good looks offensively. That lineup diminished our lead in the second quarter.

-Sexton is so good in the open court. Give him some room and a full head of steam and he’s a monster. I wish he was more active offensively tonight, he did shoot 6 free throws which is great, but shot just 2-3 from the field, no 3’s.

-Jazz turned the ball over 3 straight times from 4:07 left in the 4th to 3:19 in the 4th. Killed any sort of a comeback

-Defensive rebounding was a major issue for us tonight, and has been something that we’ve needed to work on majorly this season. We allowed 17 offensive rebounds tonight, 8 alone to Powell.

-Agbaji had 13 nonimpactful minutes tonight. His only made shot was a 3, but didn’t record any other stat besides a personal foul.

-With us having a top 5 offensive but a bottom 5 defensive, it will allow us to go on runs, but also give up a lot of points to teams with no clear offensive #1 like tonight did. We really gave up 29 points to Josh Green and 29 to Jaden Hardy on great efficiency.

-Mike Conley with an incredible passing game with 11 assists. He threw like 3 good lobs tonight and beautiful entry passes to bigs. He shot 4-8 for 10 points to give him a double double tonight.

-Our defensive effort carried over from the second quarter to the third quarter. We started on the wrong side of a 10-2 run, and never recovered substantially from that, only getting the lead very briefly in the middle of the fourth

-This is only the third time this season Rudy Gay has scored in double figures. He hit 16 the season opener, hit 11 a few games ago against Portland, and got 10 tonight. I was actually impressed with Rudy Gay tonight offensively. He hit some tough buckets, still did some things I’m not happy about (shoot 3’s, bad defense, lack of passing), but I’ll give him props for like the second time all season lol

-Beasley is so frustrating to watch. 3-7 from 3, but 3-9 overall. He made bad decisions with the ball, he did get 7 rebounds, but about half of his shots weren’t open at all. Just a frustrating player.

-Walker Kessler played good tonight. 13 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks. He actually was responsible for our first 3 FGA for the game surprisingly. One was a reverse lay, one was a missed murder attempt on Powell, then lastly an alley oop from conley. After a lay by Markkanen, Kessler got another bucket off a putback slam.

-The first play this game was actually a pick n roll where Olynyk was the ball handler, Kessler was the roll man and it looked beautiful. I want to see more of that as long as they continue to start together.

-Markkanen was 8-10 inside the arc, just 1-7 from 3. His streak of 20+ scoring games ended tonight at 20, and he didn’t attempt a free throw tonight which has only happened 3 times this season. Officiating was iffy on him sometimes, but frustrating that his 3 point shot wasn’t falling. He was a team low -23 tonight too and fouled out for the first time all season.

-Overall a disappointing night to lose. No Luka, no Dinwiddie, DFS, Kyrie, and we still lost by 13. Our defense is terrible, and when we shoot 19.4% from 3 and give up 17 offensive rebounds, we aren’t beating anybody.

-I’m surprised that Will Hardy didn’t try NAW or THT out tonight. Agbaji was a non factor, Beasley wasn’t doing himself any favors, and Clarkson’s only redeeming stat was going 12-15 from the free throw line. In moments where we looked like we couldn’t do anything to get a bucket, I wish we would’ve gone to THT especially. Not that he can get a bucket, but just for a change of pace.

    27-28 bitches :/

Well, we are under 500 again: can we just stay that way this time please? The season is a success even if we lose every game from here on out because of the hidden gems that we found in Lauri and Kessler. Trade away the vets at the deadline for either more young players or picks, tank like hell to end the year, and then head into the off-season with better odds at a top five pick. Losing is no fun, but that’s our clearest path to filling the holes on this roster with high end talent because we sure as fuck aren’t going to be able to do it in free agency.

    Tank for Victor

Trade Clarkson, Beasley, and Vanderbilt for firsts

Trade Shaggy, NAW, and Rudy for seconds

Start Conley, Collin, Ochai, Lauri, and Walker to finish the season, and tank for a top 10 pick

I’d rather have a chance at getting a top 4 pick, instead of losing to Denver in 4 games, in round one of the playoffs

  5. rc_cola34

2nd game where we haven’t looked like we’re ready to play. First quarter aside we looked very disinterested.

Starting to think trade talk getting to some guys.

Regardless I never want to watch another game where Lauri’s whistle is non existent. We couldn’t hit a 3 to save our lives and drove all night but our all star can’t get a call.

    That’s some pathetic officiating.

  6. SomePoorGamer

Bad Jazz play + 4th quarter refs fucking us in the ass = a bad night

  7. dautjazz

These games are always dangerous, seems like there is always some guys that step up huge when the stars are out. I’m starting to incline towards missing the playoffs, we’re just not going to make any noise at all these playoffs.

  8. Lazy_Variety

Will Hardy has done a POOR JOB with Collin sexton. He has misused him and failed to get him involved. THERE IS NO REASON to have him in the court if you’re just going to let everybody else do what what they’re ant. He was the only guy getting to the line and then he never never sees the ball again. That 4th quarter was so bad and one of the worse coaching jobs I’ve seen. He literally let guys just chuck up shots while sexton stood there waiting wide open at times. This is not how you make players better. THESE VETS NEED TO GO! Or just trade Collin he deserves to start, and get more than 3 lousy shots

  9. JC is the ultimate tank commander when he gets into the mode he got into 3rd quarter.

Beasley is also a bad ball hog.

Each possession should have Lauri touching the ball at least once. Time and time again those two guards ignore his first read option and do their own thing (and end up with piss poor efficiency).

    I’m hoping both get traded.

  10. LaKal-El

Why are we sucking so bad even their star player sat out and beat us pretty easily

  11. Disappointing loss. Think it’s time to make some moves. We aren’t a playoff team and we should trade for that future or next year even.

  12. We’re trying to see how far we could go and it’s back to reality, tank time.

  13. SixDigitStipend

Was that game real or did they just reroll a playoff game from last year?

  14. robograndpa

All the Jazz fans who wanted to go 40-42 must be eating good rn

  15. apples_r_4_weak

These guys have proven they can play.

Then fatigue and slump caught them

And now, I just feel that trade deadline is getting into their heads… because quite frankly, none of them are stars and everyone can be traded.

Despite the lost, I still want to say that I love this team. Yeah, we’re mediocre right now, but who would have even thought that we’d win games during the start of season

    On to the next

  16. Icanbuildthings

Too bad Portland and OKC lost as well tonight

  17. rush_limbaw

That second unit has been looking rough and putting Vando into it hadn’t helped either. I don’t like an offense that puts the ball in Rudy Gay’s hand every possession but Sexton is found sort of just standing around if he isn’t just charging the paint if it is in his hands off an in bound.

  18. Jazzlike-Apple1293

Congrats to the jazz being the 1 in the 1-7 Mavs without luka..

  19. To everyone who is against tanking…. why, lol.

    Why do you not understand.

This is not the team culture you want our young guys to learn. Playoff experience is great, and all, but the playoff experience they’d get with this group is a selfish, low IQ, no-defense, chucking brand of basketball just ain’t gonna do ’em any good.

This team is fucking embarrassing. It is time to ship off the vets, and let the young guys build their own brand of basketball. It’ll likely be better than whatever the hell we watched tonight.

  20. Formal-Shoulder3216

Free Arby’s! We may not have the W’s, but we do have the meats!

  21. SirSuolinaama

It was one of those rare occasions where I was actually awake, but the train wifi was too spotty for watching. Guess I was spared some pain.
