  1. This is it. The only move we’re making this deadline

  2. SudTheThug

we are free . But watch this be the only thing we do .

edit: so was it just to free up a roster spot ? and second round pick to do it ?

  3. Well that opens a spot for Orlando Robinson and another minimum player if we want.

THE +/- GODS HAVE HEARD US

In all seriousness, while he sucked this season, I’ll never forget the stretch from when we picked him up off the couch in that dreaded 2021 season to sometime last season after he got injured where he was a genuinely good backup center for us.

Edit: was reminded we signed him as opposed to traded for him

Go home to your family now, Mechanic.

… What do we get for our pick and Dedmon? Just out of his contract?

  6. Gavster1221

Changing my YES to a cheapass Arison… till i see a 2nd move

Are seconds usually that much more useful than the undrafteds we’ve been able to find?

  8. TheKing_OA

Even if it’s for a bag of chips, we won the trade.

I love trading picks away to save arison money, can’t wait to do it this offseason

genuinely going to miss the guy

of course he’s fallen out of favor and he’s played himself out of the rotation but last year watching him do all the little things right and be **exactly** what was needed as a backup big was awesome

hope he plays his way into another contract in san antonio

If it’s just to open a spot, they can just ask Haslem to retire early. He is really taking a very needed spot.

  12. TrickstarCandina

That’s it, that’s the “trade deadline acquisition”

  13. Did they really have to trade a second round pick to get rid of him?

  14. Hassan_upside

Signed Dedmon only to have to attach a second round pick to dump him after half a season lmaooo

I kind of hate that we had to give up a second just to get rid of Dedmon. If we make no more moves to get additional assets, it’s pretty bad pick management on the part of Riley because we have so few seconds to begin with. I was hoping that we gave Dedmon that deal to package him in a trade for a quality player, not give up an asset to dump him half a season later.

This is legit the equivalent of trading Dedmon for a bag of Cheetos, and we had to include a pick to do it LMAO

SMH I remember getting downvoted in the summer for saying Dedmon’s contract was one of the worst moves we coulda done. But people were saying it made sense for trade reasons. Here’s the trade we held out for. Just gave away a second rounder for jokes. Pat is cooked, what the fuck was the point of bringing him back in the first place?

Shoutout dedmon anyway. He’s been a bum this year but he was good when he came in. The heat once again didn’t know when to call it quits and paid the guy only to dump him for tax reasons 6 months later. Sounds like us

He was heaven-sent his first year, he’s just gotten worse and worse, good riddance.

I used to pray for moments like this 🙏

Holy shit I’m finally free, he’s off my team, in awe. Actively convincing my work to let me have to day off so I can drive him to the airport.

  22. gamesrgreat

So did we at least get back cash considerations or what? Literally giving away a pick to dump this garbo player we could have just not signed

  23. heat1718

this is clearly not a 1 off trade. For anyone trying to do trades on the trade machine, it was super hard to do it while not increasing our potential luxury tax bill. by doing this trade, we have a much bigger wiggle room that allows us to take on a little more salary then giving out in another trade without worrying about the luxury tax. If a team we are dealing with is in the luxury tax as well, this allows our offer to become more appealing because not only can we get the player we want, but we can also potentially help alleviate another teams luxury tax bill as well. Given that any team we will be dealing with is probably a seller at the deadline, their luxury tax obligations are probably something they are trying to lower as part of any deal, so this is just the start, but a nice first deal that is almost assuredly going to be used to help facilitate and set up the next deal prior to the deadline.

Hate to see all the dedmon hate. I haven’t been around much this season, but people are soon to forget how a season before he was a great backup center and enjoyed having him on the team.
