I really hope the team flip the switch now with all these trades
Fuck it, make the trade anyway.
Gary’s family. If we’re gonna suck, I’d rather suck with him than suck with Mandarin Bagley.
Fucking fuck the Blazers. They’re at the top of my shit list forever. I hate them more than the Grizzlies at this point. What a shithole org.
Make the trade, Rick cerebrini pulls some magic and he comes back in 1-2 months hopefully and he gets to play in the playoffs.
Silver doesn’t have the balls to do anything unless it’s for Lebron
No hate on wiseman, but the team vibes are gonna be off if he comes back. Not gonna do him any good at all.
Steph and prob others are already done with him, i can’t imagine navigating the locker room with that in mind
Ooooof one step forward, two steps back has kinda been how this season has gone.
I think we stick with it unless the medical staff really think he should be out the rest of the year.
The Curse of Quinndary continues… smh.
I think we still have to go ahead with the trade. You can’t take Wiseman back into the collective after that. He wasn’t playing, and this trade is a sign the team has given up on him. I don’t think he has the character to power through it.
So we just take the L, manage to secure a place in the playoffs and get GP2 back around May. He knows the system, not much has changed since he left, his role will be more or less the same. He can be a plug and play player, getting back to his former game in 5-7 games, once he’s healthy.
Furthermore, it’s still a good move for the cap and for next year, as we don’t know if we’ll be able to keep Donte.
I do think it’s entirely reasonable to make Portland pay the salary of every game (including tax) GP2 is out for this injury.
What the [actual fuck](https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/10z7jjf/the_athletic_payton_according_to_sources_had_been/j81wmy9?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)?
>They were giving him shots to make him play through the pain while [telling the >media](https://www.nba.com/blazers/news/gary-payton-ii-available-for-mondays-game-versus-pistons) that Payton just >had a mental block and was physically fine.
> Billups also noted prior to Friday’s loss to the Warriors — Payton II received his championship ring from his former team in a short ceremony prior to tipoff — that there were non-physical issues at play regarding Payton’s return.
>
> “He’s working his behind off to get back, he’s close, very close,” said Billups. “Medically, we’ve and he’s done everything that he can do. I always tell people, a lot of times, like, nobody really understands. Like, when you have an injury, you have surgery, there’s not just a physical component that you have to get over, there’s a mental component as well. You don’t want to get hurt again, you don’t want to re-injure yourself, and I think that’s kind of where it is with (Payton) is like, he’s just trying to get over that.”
Please let us keep wiseman, god I am begging. I can’t believe the godfathers of positionless basketball have been trying to pigeonhole this absolute freak into catching lobs and fetching rebounds.
I say at this point I’d rather have Bey than wiseman. Keep the trade
Andy on the light years pod suggesting that gp2 might be cooked or his career might be in Jeopardy is crazy hyperbole. We just saw the guy moving around on the court and we liked what we saw enough to trade for him (I’m not concerned… he also caught a stunning lob btw). Andy cut that shit out please! Please keep the message board doomer stuff on the message board geez.
I think Andy didn’t actually watch the Portland game lol.
Lol this season is cursed
Lakers need to go 16-10 just to make the playin. How many think Vando, DLo, Beasley and Bamba gonna make them even that good?
OK this is serum bowl all over again for me.
Fuck Portland, blazers fans crying they lost to okc last night and SGA had 19 FTA. Like dame didn’t get 16 FTA on Wednesday against us smfh.
Is it inappropriate to discuss future draft prospects on this day considering Gary’s injury situation and the mess we’re in thanks to Blazers being a trash organization?
I hope not because I think we’ll keep the trade, rehab Gary, he’ll come back sooner than expected and we will secure a top six seeding by the end of regular season and reach the finals convincingly and hopefully win another chip.
Now, onto my draft discussion, I’m dying to talk about this to someone. The more I think about it, the surer I become, we have to draft Trayce Jackson Davis.
He’s the closest thing you can ever get to Draymond Green. They’re so similar it’s eerie. Both are older prospects, he’s taller than Dray but still undersized at 6’9. He’s a bit of a tweener, a very unusual and nontraditional player. He’s a great college basketball player who agreed to come back for his last year only because of Covid and because his coaches and teammates asked him to come back.
He’s got a lot of individual accolades but his last goal before draft is to get Indiana to a big ten championship or national championship.
Just like Draymond, he’s an incredible defender. Not the best one on one defender in the mold of Andre or Wiggs. But the overall best defender in his draft class if you consider his on ball, off ball, individual and team defense. And he can organize your team’s defense.
His three point shot is cooked and his playmaking isn’t as good as Draymond but he’s very tough to guard inside the paint and he’s a very smart and willing passer.
And he’s got all the intangibles. Yells at teammates if they mess up rotations, talks trash to opposition players, his coach talks about him knowing plays and schemes like the back of his hand. In fact, he helps coach a team of retired basketball players and older fans in fantasy camp.
I think this kid despite being really impressive and having a really good season, will still be underrated. I would be surprised if he’s picked in the first round. Which is why I think he’ll be available. I just hope our scouting department knows he exists and is just as impressed as I am with him.
It’s tough but I would keep the trade imo, if we canceled the trade would wiseman even play?
I kinda expect the GP2/Wiseman trade to be accepted, honestly a lot of things that came out (from Monte Poole, Marcus Thompson, Anthony Slater, etc.) do strongly indicate that the Warriors will accept the trade even with the failed physical because although the evidence is kinda minor, they all point towards that direction.
If the Warriors, say, hold the trade out to pursue a punishment for the Blazers, that could create a scenario where everyone involved isn’t able to play and that’s just not good for anyone involved. So my full expectation is that this trade is accepted as is and then the Warriors pursue a punishment and/or compensation afterwards.
Honestly I just hope GP2’s injury isn’t something that lingers beyond this season, because at the end of the day he needs to be a win-now asset for this trade to be a win. If the Warriors deem his injury to be significant enough that he becomes a salary liability then that’s really the only angle I could conceive where the Warriors void this trade as a whole. Personally, I think it’s just way too awkward for this trade to be called off, and honestly it’s just better for every player involved for this trade to go through.
Heck, I’ve made peace with GP2 potentially not seeing floor time for the remainder of the season. My biggest hope is that when GP2 does come back, he’s the GP2 we all know and love.
If GP2 does come back this season though, I’m less concerned about chemistry because in reality Otto Porter is really the only player that he shared significant floor time with during last year’s playoffs that isn’t on the team right now. Yes, it’s not gonna be 100% fluid but I don’t think it’s big enough to be an issue. I’m only really concerned about his health man, hope he heals up well and soon.
Well, it’s a game day/night/morning (depending on your time zone). I hope the team had good practice and is ready to win some games. I’m getting sick of “1 step forward, 3 step backwards” trend of this season. We start losing games when we are in a winnable position. Wiggs finally looks his pre injury self, Klay leading the scoring in Curry’s absence and Poole handling the offense has been so huge, Dray and Donte need to keep up their defense and hustle work and I believe Kuminga won’t be mentally checked out like last game.
Please don’t pass layups for 3s and don’t commit unnecessary fouls, and play good defense right from the tipoff. Don’t want another L, especially against these Lakers
If you also want to lighten your frustation, listen to some music. Watch BABYMETAL, a cute heavy metal band. DM/write E-mails to Kendrick Lamar, tell him to release an album asap and bring back Quinndary Weatherspoon (make him sit on the bench, end this Curse Of Quinndary)
