My question to all this is can this trade be amended after the fact. I personally dont think they can do that. It going to be interesting to see what going to happen. I just don't want Portland to get full compensation for a player who not ready to play. For me what works is for Warriors to get some of the draft picks given back to the warriors for a damage player. I like Kevin Knoxs, I would like him along with 2 Of the draft Picks back to the Warriors. I would be Ok with Three draft Picks to the Warriors and they get Kevin Knoxs too
I will wait for more information to come out before I start pointing the finger
NBA players today becoming so frail…sad.
All of this seems odd. Why was this reported to the media but not to the blazers themselves? Also Gary got hurt while playing for the Warriors and played with the pain until he signed with the blazers and finally got surgery. A lot odd things are going on and hopefully will be cleared up soon. If blazers at fault then I hope something will be done to punish them but I also thing that maybe Gary was not very open with the blazers and really wanted to comeback to the warriors.
I am so mad and hurt I could spit. You mean these butts had OUR "family" GP2 playing hurt. Horrible, horrible
Hi Brian, love your content. In future videos i would love for you to incorporate captions particularly when mentioning areas of the body with more uncommon/lesser known names. E.g. “aponeurotic plate”. I’m sure plenty others would benefit too. Thanks again!
Trailblazers are a trash organization.
I know what went wrong…they made him play. Smh
Agreed! Don't jump to blaming the Blazer's medical staff's treatment of players. It's not like they have a history of… er.. what? Greg Oden?
I mean, yeah, but um.. he was already injured!!! It's not like there is a history of… um.. who…
Brandon Roy? Well, I mean, yeah, but that's a one off… It's not like there is anything else…
What? Sam Bowie? well, but.. um Bill Walton… and.. um..
You know what.. Forget I mentioned it.. 😉
Here is the thing, GP2 has done MORE for the Warriors than Wiseman. And Golden State held onto, worked with and doctored Wiseman for three whole years. And they got little to NOTHING for their patience, loyalty and dedication. Surely, they can afford GP2 that same thing. GP2 is beloved family. Just like Andre Igudola. Who hasn't played 20 games in 2 years. Andre is also beloved family. I have to say, I did feel a little funny when Portland announced GP2 was starting to play. I didn't feel good about it because I wasn't sure he was ready. Mainly BECAUSE the Trailblazer had but off GP2's return Soooo many times. And also because during that time, the sports media just kept ","harping on" when will GP2 start playing. I really hate the thought of GP2 playing hurt. I could be wrong, but I think the Warriors"got wind" of the fact that Portland was playing GP2 hurt. I hope the Warriors still keep him.
wow…to see that Blazers pushed someone to play through pain, especially this way, shows how crooked they are. that's just disgusting
Our doctors here in the Bay Area aren’t any better, they told Kd to play and he got injured, after the 2019 finals he left to get looked at by Brooklyn doctors and they told him he shouldn’t have been playing, those are team doctors.
I can't believe there isn't some form of punishment for the trailblazer organisation for this b.s…The commissioner should order portland to give up another player or draft picks in compensation
Great explanation! Thanks.
If this is reporting is true, this is Despicable for the Blazers. Absolutely horrible.
If this is Not true… then this looks really sus for the Warriors…
If it is not true, What is the intention of the false reports? What was the goal of spreading the false news?
The whole situation is eye opening 👀 we shall see
Considering Wiseman isn't getting any playing time do the warriors still go through with trade
Fishier when it’s in conference
Do a video on the brain damage the Brooklyn Nets had to be to trade 3 Hall of Famers for role players. 🤔
I guess it goes both ways… Warriors trading away a player that's not in the rotation and trying to get a player that'll benefit their team. Surprise he's hurt.
I'm surprised I didn't see a video for Jaylen Brown
Go watch a little bit of an interview Marcellus Wiley did with Vice. He talks about what painkillers, especially Toradol, did to him. He basically went into kidney failure.
He should've never left Gokden State
Yes. They pushed him to play and he powered through the signs that would have told him to shut it down, or re-injured it. Gary Payton 2 is not Gary Payton, KD, Kobe, etc. What's he gonna do if his "team" tells him to shut it down? He can't take the "injury prone" tag! That'll end his career!
Portland had regrets signing a guy for a guaranteed $26 million and him averaging 4ppg. That's why they were eager to dump him on a team that had history with him. Good on GS for doing their woodshedding and not just bringing him in due to nostalgia.
Ok up to 3 months he can play. We will he be able to play high level defensively?
Looking at the recent history of the Portland medical staff, FORCING him to play is highly unlikely. They have sat out players for less, and with the recent player empowerment movement Gary would’ve told someone and it would’ve been known a month ago
As a long-time Warriors fan, I want to thank you Dr. Brian Sutterer for the in-depth detailed explanation. Even though Gary Payton II is given a 2-3-month estimation of recovery, having experienced a similar injury, my recovery was far longer. And in fact, the pain never went away when I was "physically active". My hope as a Warriors fan is that the trade proceeds and that Gary Payton II does in fact recover at record speed.
As an aside, I hate that we traded such a great potential talent and nice young man in James Wiseman, but also hated the fact that we didn't keep Gary Payton II to begin with, due to the luxury tax situation. In essence, Gary was penalized for his success.
Lastly, the NBA league needs to create and/or modify it's policy on "when a franchise develops talents, they should NOT be financially penalized in keeping these men", as the Warriors often are. In this way, teams like the Warriors won't suffer such dire luxury tax siyuations and can pay these men for their hard work and overcoming incredible adversity.
This news is so underrated. Most guys hype about Kyrie and KD but damn, Portland did young gloves dirty. You can’t just give him shots and lie to other teams when trade him.
Blazers should be fined or docked some picks for not reporting health
Damn, Portland doesn't have a good record on injury. Both Oden and Brandon Roy are great talents that gone sideways in their career. If you look at GSW, what they did to revive Steph's career is amazing. It seems to be there are big gaps between team doctors.
The fact that the Dubs have come out and stated that GP2 didn't pass his physical and the injury has also been made public, playing him is now going to look just as bad on them as it did with Portland. They've basically screwed themselves by not keeping this under wraps.
