If we weren’t in such a shooting slump for 3’s we would have won that game rather well. Can’t tell if the shooting slump is because Conley isn’t there getting us the spacing we want or our guys are just struggling.

  2. 29 points, but still feels like it was one of the worst games from lauri this season

Ochai or THT should be starting over clarkson. He is not a part of the future for this team. He’s been great and one of my favorite jazz players ever, but it’s time to part ways

I thought the game against the Timberwolves was going to be what we were post Mike Conley, but we’ve been a scrappy team still! Love the fight our team showed tonight

Offense looks so much better when THT or Sextons runs the show instead of JC. Hate to say it, but I hope we don’t resign him for the future, unless he’s willing to go back to being a 6th man.

Fun game, relatively spirited effort for most of it, lots of developmental minutes for the young guys, awesome game from THT, and a close single digit loss? I can get behind this for the rest of the season.

I feel bad because Dok is just so lost out there. Like… You’ve been playing for how long? I’d love to see what our new center looks like.

The defense has to be there if they want to win. You can’t loose the offense we lost and keep playing such bad defense.

Especially while we slump from 3

Oh well losses aren’t fun but they’re a positive right now

Less shots for clarkson going forward. Bench him, let sexton get some of those attempts snd move the ball . This team looked different yesterday for a reason I would prefer to see Ochai start, that way clarkson can do that shot chucking with the second unit

I really like what I saw from THT, with that said, I think the issue is our Offensive stagnation from the second unit. We made some really great progress with transition defense last game but this game we lost it again. Offensively, we need to find a better flow with the second group coming on, Clarkson might be the issue but having a second option on the second group would be helpful. Honestly, the Knicks shot well and looked like they wanted the win in the 4th qtr. Randall has a pure Karl Malone vibe to him. Anyway, next!

    GAME NOTES:

Our defense needs serious help. Even before the trade deadline, we had some major issues, and they certainly weren’t addressed. Randle and Brunson combined for 68 tonight. It felt like playoff brunson all over again haha

Offensively, this was THT’s best game in a jazz uniform. A season high in points, and very effective basketball. He was 8-12 from the floor, 6 assists(!!!!!), 1 turnover(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and finished with 23 points. He has fit in nicely as our backup PG which is somethsing I never really expected from him. His 3 point shot still needs some work, but I’m loving his assist/turnover ratio. All in 27 minutes tonight

Lauri Markkanen struggled against Randle, and unfortunately Randle ate him alive this game. 29 points for Lauri though, but 9-23 shooting. 8-10 from the line, and he did have 3 blocks, but it just wasn’t effective tonight. Randle was very physical and it threw him off his groove. 3 blocks for Lauri though is nice. It just didn’t feel like his game tonight. He still got his numbers, but it wasn’t an impressive game to watch from him.

Kessler was a beast on the boards, getting 15 total tonight. Offensively didn’t get too many looks, and he did finish with 2 blocks. I wish our team outside of Kessler was good at defensive rebounding, I felt like late in the game tonight it was a struggle keeping the Knicks off the offensive glass.

Rudy Gay had a fabulous first half man. all of his points and shot attempts came in the first half, and he genuinely looked like he turned the clock back. But then didn’t do much the rest of the game. 13 minutes, 9 points, 2 rebounds, 4-5 shooting. He was creating his shot too which impressed me.

Azubuike is not an NBA caliber player.

Fontecchio is not an NBA caliber player.

I’m not sure the fascination Ainge has with Olynyk. He fouls a lot, and is undersized for a 5, but too slow to guard a modern 4 and wasn’t too effective at all out there in his minutes. He shot well, 4-7 for 11 points, but his time out there wasn’t impactful on either end. He struggled to get rebounds tonight, making the load fall on Kessler solely tonight.

Agbaji needs to be more aggressive with the ball. His catch n shoot 3’s are money, especially in the corner where he is fire. But I just want to see more from him. I know he is still young, but it’s just disappointing to see him sit in the corner and wait. He didn’t do much else noteworthy in the box score, played some okay-ish defense, but was too slow for Brunson, too small for Randle.

We shot terribly from 3. 9-32. 3-10 from Lauri, 1-8 from JC were the toughest pills to swallow. JC did have a good all around game tonight, 24 points 6 reb 3 ast, but he did have 3 turnovers tonight. He was doing a good job of attacking, and was scoring some tough buckets against Hart tonight which was really impressive.

It’s crazy that despite shooting poorly from 3, being outrebounded on the glass 52-38, and having 4 more turnovers than the Knicks, we only lost by 6. I think this game was winnable if we just were able to hit a few more open shots, but that’s basketball for ya.

Still no JTA or Jones sighting on the floor, and Westbrook undecided not with the team on this trip.

Winnable game, just shot poorly, couldn’t rebound, and couldn’t defend their best 2 guys.

28-30 bitches. HERE WE COME WEMBY

Danny Ainge really had to resort to paying the refs in order for us to finally tank huh?

Think this is exactly what the front office wanted
Is to have a hard-playing, gritty, fun team that just doesn’t quite have the firepower to win these types of games. Then hopefully once we get a decent draft class and maybe a FA or two, watch out!

Lauri f’in Markkanen is incredible. Didn’t shoot the 3ball made up his points in the paint and passed the ball. He just doesn’t give up. He impresses me every night even when he is struggling. We are so lucky to have him.
