Shams : The San Antonio Spurs are releasing forward Stanley Johnson, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Johnson had a strong stint for the Spurs this season, shooting 45 percent from 3-point range, and will now look to join a postseason contender.

45% from 3, good defense, and bigger than Martin? Yes please.

  2. Here before he inevitably signs with the suns đź«Ą

Since the wing buyout market is absolute garbage, wouldn’t mind giving him a shot, hopefully he can still shoot 35%+ from 3 and give 12/15 minutes of solid defense

He’s looking to join a post season contender can’t you ppl read? So we are not in contention

I remember getting mad when the heat drafted winslow over Stanley Johnson lol

Why are u posting this here? We’re not contenders

  7. celobenicio

It makes too much sense, therefore, we won’t sign him

Massive cope from this sub downvoting everyone pointing out he’s looking for a contender lmao

Last I heard, Popovitch isn’t an idiot. Why did they let him go?

This guy has been with the Lakers, Raptors, Pistons, Pelicans, Bulls, G League (Skyforce) and Spurs in a few years and can’t find a home. There must be something wrong with him.

  10. I remember Stanley from the year we drafted justise. Where would this guy fit in our rotation?

I would categorize this kind of pickup more as a *want* than *need*. Also as has been mentioned in this thread, his shooting #s are a bit deceptive – that’s 40% on really low volume, and an outlier compared to his career numbers.

Not to say he can’t grow that, just wouldn’t bring him in *based* on those numbers alone.

Also, I’d still prioritize a 4/shooting over another wing, IMHO.

For example, bring in a solid 4, and all of a sudden we allow Caleb to play his natural position again / add to wing depth in one shot.

Please just give us anyone bigger than Martin

Might as well not post any updates on who’s getting bought out. We’re just going to sign two undrafted g leaguers anyways 🤦🏾‍♂️

“Will now look to join a postseason contender” is absolutely beating our ass this season

  14. I could see him go back to LA or prob the Suns cuz they’d give him more minutes
