[NBA.com] Defensive Player Ladder – according to this article, Grizzlies are 10th in defensive rating (no source is given) and that + fouls are why Jaren isn’t #1 anymore.

This article also seems to think that it’s a GOOD thing Brook Lopez contests more shots than the other guys…even though he gets less blocks? So they’re saying that he’s less effective as a shot blocker with MORE contested shots, and that’s one of the reasons he is #1…

It’s crazy how the Bucks have THREE “DPOY candidates” in Giannis, Brook, and Jrue, yet they’re not the best defense in the league….fishy.

Not sure where this is from. It looks like between January 1 to present, they are 7th and on the season they are 3rd overall. Both [NBA.com](https://NBA.com) and Cleaning the Glass (filtering out garbage time) have these numbers.

Also someone already posted this. The reason is the Grizzlies just played on national TV against the Celtics and JJJ has not been good on nationally televised games. This is a knee-jerk reaction to the national audience who watches limited games. Things never change.

One more game and Jaren will qualify for per game stats so the guys that pretend they watch basketball but really just look at the ESPN top 5 leaders in every stat page will have Jaren 1 in like 24 hours

We’re actually 2nd in DefRtg (after a few weeks in 1st), behind Cleveland and ahead of Milwaukee.

Are these numbers over a short period of time, rather than the whole season? They’re way off every other reference point if they’re meant to be full season numbers.

Can’t be DPOY when you struggle in the big games and just put up numbers vs inferior competition I’m thinking the mindset is. He’s gotta clean it up and not get in so much foul trouble in big games, it kills his perception

it is no coincidence that with Adams out his Fouls have gone up, he tries to do to much to cover for Adams not being there

B10CK PANTH3R aka BLOCKboy J3 will be back to number 1 when he becomes eligible statistically after the Jazz game. Fans will be able to truly see how historically dominant he has been. It’s his award to lose

Brook Lopez currently has 4 points, 0-3 from the field. No steals. No blocks. 3 personal fouls. With 10 minutes left to go.

    Absolute joke.

Jaren winning it this year won’t help him improve though. Let other player get it. Jaren won’t realize how important it is to stay on the floor if he win it while being foul prone. He doesn’t deserve it. He won’t improve that shit if got that when he does a lot of dumb fouls.

The same thing this team won’t realize how bad their 3point defense and how they suck at FT until they got destroy by all these things in the playoffs. A lof of maturing is needed by the whole team.
