Kevin Durant says trade requests are “great for the league” despite criticism: “Teams have been trading players and making acquisitions for a long time. Now a player can dictate where he wants to go, leave in free agency or demand a trade, it’s just part of the game now.”

Then what tf is the point of even signing contracts?

  2. Kwilly462

I mean, I’m not against a player requesting a trade. It’s in their right, they’re not slaves. That being said… Teams don’t have to trade them where they want to go too, it works both ways.

I think what would make this more fair is that if a player request trade, he loses 25% of his salary to the team that traded him away

Pulling your pants down on the court would also get you more attention for the league KD, doesn’t mean you should do it.

  5. longPAAS

Nets fans are still waiting for a “thank you”.

  6. rowthecow

He’s a great player with a bitch ass attitude

I agree. I’m still pretty bitter about durant, but I don’t see a problem with requesting trades. Nobody should have to be completely miserable with their career if they don’t need to be. I think it’s also part of what makes the league suspenseful. League runs on hope and you never know when one of these guys are going to end up on your team.

I am for employee empowerment and I’m sure most people would want that in their workplace as well

  9. burner7221

Great for everyone except loyal Nets fans.

TBF then max contract length should be 2 years. 3rd year means no trade demands. No 4th year guarantees for any player at the supermax level.

Or if you request mid season trade then your next multi year contract must be team options for year 2 and 3. Call it the Kai Family Entertainment Rule.

Damn fellas y’all really in your feelings about this dude

  12. Odd-Communication609

Tell me you’re an idiot without telling me you’re an idiot

  13. Dudeman-Jack

It sucks for the fans that root for the team you are on Kevin

  14. If you don’t guarantee your time why should anyone guarantee you money?

  15. Becker607

Dude just needs to shut up. He has always been his own worst enemy in the media.

KD and LeBron are like the Silver Surfer and Galactus of the NBA. Going around consuming all the money then moving on.

  17. WittyRazzmatazz2110

KD never had a haircut with the nets and now he does.

  18. eugene_v_dabs

he’s right. the inverse has always happened. the very easy solution to this is for the owners and FOs to foster environments where players want to stay

  19. worksucksbro

Of course he would say this he’s the biggest snake of them all lol

  20. ughwhateverman

Player empowerment only empowers the top 5% of NBA players. Everyone else has to deal with what KD talked about

  21. pocketportfolio

i honestly don’t see anything wrong with what he said.

  22. Knomp2112

For years professional players were treated as chattel so good that at least some players control where they play.

Imagine you work for a company in Phoenix and work every day and bust your ass then BAM, you are told to pack your bags because you are being sent to NY?

  23. jboylan67

“You’re not wrong, Kevin. You’re just an asshole.”

  24. jrtasoli

Cool. You gonna use all that contract money to pay me back for those Nets KD jerseys I have? No? Then shut the fuck up, “Seven,” you snake.

  25. iamjacklame

Guaranteed contracts don’t make sense. Teams show negotiate a trade request clause.

  26. Background_Nature_32

Now everybody wanna play for the heat and the Lakers? Let’s go back to being competitive and going at these peoples! – also Durant

    Get in Kev

  28. Illmatic414Prodigy

All for you making trade requests but you can’t also get butthurt if people get upset about it.

  29. Perhaps having big long term contracts are part of the problem; if you commit to 4 years, you get compensated for that commitment. If you break that commitment that you make, then that’s where the issues begin. More back loaded contracts for stars that see our their contracts could be used. 50% in first year, 75% in the second year, 125% in the 3rd year and 150% in the 4th year.

Can we stop posting about KD and Kyrie?

Who tf cares, they aren’t on the team.
