Russell Westbrook to sign with Clippers, ASG 'worst basketball game ever played?' | NBA | THE HERD

Russell Westbrook will be back in Los Angeles..with the other team. Russ is reportedly expected to sign with the LA Clippers after his buyout with the Utah Jazz is completed. The point guard was traded to the Jazz during the trade deadline after the Los Angeles Lakers were constantly involved in trade talks. Nick Wright explains why this is a bad move by the Clippers. Another All-Star Weekend is in the books but Denver Nuggets Head Coach Mike Malone was no fan of the game, calling it ‘the worst basketball game ever played.’ Nick discusses who is to blame for the ASG’s let down, along with why the players are not at fault.

  1. Lebron is a billionaire. He has a beautiful wife and healthy kids. Why does he care if he is the G.O.A.T. The ego of these players is so silly!!!

  2. James Harden is probably the biggest victim of this narrative. He played almost every game for 7 straight seasons, being top 5 in minutes played all of those years. He got 3 scoring titles and an Assist title along with an MVP. Probably the greatest 3 season stretch of offense in history.
But how do people view him? He is a choker, a failure, a ballhog, selfish, etc. Nevermind he took less shots than Jordan but averaged more points. Nevermind he was top 3 in assists 5 straight seasons. Nevermind his Rockets were the only team to ever threaten the KD warriors when healthy.
Chris Paul is another one of the victims of this narrative. A top 3-5 pg of all time and people will argue he isn't top 50 solely because he doesn't have a ring.

A ring, a championship, is a team accomplishment.

I also think Russ can contribute to winning basketball in the right environment. Simply put he makes his teammates better and enables superstar talent to thrive. Russ has been the primary pg to Paul George's best season, Bradley Beal's best season, Durant's mvp season.
The clippers can make Russ valuable with good coaching. He is still a supreme talent and great passer

  3. Everything Nick wright does it's about a case for lebron , What I hate about the media including Nick Wright, is there disingenuous takes and alter motives . The fact of the matter is that these athletes of today are spoiled unmotivated Rich Primadonnas that do not care about the fans Or the product they produce . Some of the things you said were right but you forgot about you are the poison that stirs the coffee so no one cares about what you say ! You guys control the narrative With your propaganda takes Promoting your own personal agendas . Blaming others but not placing the blame on who really Deserves it . The very person that you champion is the poison that stirs a coffee which is lebron James who single handily ruined the dunk contest by being such a weak punk and never participate in it . Attitude reflex leadership Nick , And lebron has always only cared only about lebron and the minions that follow him , taking on his weak soft, Taking off, stacking team, Unmotivate selfish ways, if you ever read this , I don't think you have the courage to really look in the mirror and know that I'm right Nick .

  4. The hardest thing to do is win championships that’s why. Ex: Russ Westbrook stat machine but doesn’t help any team win.

  5. Call me when LeBron has 6 championships!

    That's your only argument?

IT'S THE ONLY ARGUMENT I NEED SHAWN!!!!!

  6. I hate his takes! 🤣 this is a gossip podcast idc what anyone says, plus russ will be just fine and comfortable still in LA just got a better job than his last toxic one, then have the little clubs talking behind his back, we all live the same life, but this crybaby show is ridiculous, drink your tears nick 😢🤣

  7. There's more to great players than just winning championships

Stats and individual accomplishments matter too

Unfortunately there's that quote everyone knows about

"You play to win the game"

Herm Edwards who said this quote never won a Super Bowl as a player or a coach

    Herm Edwards is a hypocrite

  8. Nothing wrong with counting rings. Media demanding teams to pay ultra money to athletes after only one good game or one good season is the biggest problem.

  9. Thanks for callin out people saying that rings are so important when yes it adds to the conversation. i look at it just like another stat. but people talk down when players dont win the finals like what they did. what work they put in all year. them going out and droping 40 point games over and over again balling out but nope "they suck cause no rings"

the way i look at it is night in night out what is the player going to give the team.

  10. "oh lebron lost so many times in the finals"
"but…isnt making the finals an accomplishment in itself? isnt it harder to lose in the finals than in the first ro…"
"lalalalala, many losses in finals, bad player."

  11. The problem with LeBron breaking the record was that it was build up by people like Nick, Shannon, etc for the past 4-5 years. Hearing about it every sports show kinda took shine off of the moment imo

  12. damn i didnt even notice, but i started to think like the media. everytime i see someone somewhat try in the all star game im like "hey just dont injure yourself, its not worth it"
i mean it really is worth it, the nba is for entertainment, why not try to make everything as entertaining as possible, not just the playoffs…

  13. at this point in nba, the dunk contest , and all star weekend have completely lost its allure , magic, interest… cause the league it self has gone down hill so drasticly… they barely want to play..! westbrook has sucked since last year.. why would they want him ?

  14. It’s insane how so many nba players are fooled by Russ. I still remember being beyond dumbfounded 3/4 of players in 2016 thought Russ was better than Steph.

  15. Yeah this is why I stopped even arguing sports anymore. There are no absolutes in sports no one is truly batting a thousand. All you need to do is agree on how to count championships in a relative value add system. I’m comparing 2 players. I give the parameters as the parameters are agreed upon prior without bias. For example championships have the highest relative value so that’s 10 points per. Final losses or conference championships next with 7. MVP 5. Finals MVP 5. Something like that. There has to be some type of grading system because top 5 in 2 statical career categories unless it’s like rebounding and blocks or steals and assists. Points and assists do not go together. Usually it’s one or the other.

  16. My God leave Westbrook' alone, let the guy play his game, why are so many people piling on him?

  17. This man is comparing himself to Russell Westbrook….. he couldn't fill Russell's shoes with 50 socks on why is this man credible???

  18. This is so much cap, if you know Nick’s stances and the players he goes to bat for, why are you making it seem like the media over values winning.

The problem is these players are paid millions of dollars without earning their keep in the NBA, everyone damn near gets a max Contracf now & is making over 50Ms over a period of time if you are not a rookie.

Playing hard in the all star game, competing in the dunk contest, that’s like a rite of passage for a lot of players in the past, the lack of effort, or willingness to compete is a symptom of the money being made by players nowadays, load management, and the fact we tell these players how great they are when we get haven’t Achieved anything realistically in the NBA. Case in point Dame complaining he gets snubbed, you’d think since he was snubbed he’d go out and compete to prove hes one of the best. But these new players nowadays aren’t built like that….

  19. I agree with the take, but Jordan won his titles he desperately wanted, then Kobe made it all about chasing the rings, and I think the NBA media/fan fed off of it. It was about rings when Magic and Larry were battling. But at some point you have to have a little respect for your job and the fact you're getting paid an embarrassingly amount of money to care about it on a Wed night in January; and people are paying $200 for a mediocre seat to see you in November. I don't have to do/care about my job because the media says it doesnt matter till June? 🤔

  20. Question was about Russ but Nick goes in 10 mins about Mahomes. Dudes sports knowledge so limited to just 1 team and 1 player.
