ESPN Sources: The Hawks are planning a wide-ranging search, but one candidate expected to be at the top of the list: Former Utah Jazz coach Quin Snyder. Others expected to be considered include Bucks assistant Charles Lee, Golden State assistant Kenny Atkinson.

THE RETURN OF SHOWER HAIR SNYDER? 👀

  2. LawdBeast

I’d kill for Kenny; I’d kill myself for Quin

  3. Schroder17

Kyle Korver played under all three of these guys I think. Could be huge in getting one of them here

All former hawks assistants. Neat. Shows they respect previous versions of the org. This has Korver written all over it.

I’m cautious about guys named Quin coaching in Atlanta…..

I don’t love Kenny Atkinson. It would be cool to give Quin Snyder a shot. He did well in Utah and helped develop some of those guys. Idk much about Charles Lee. Hiring him feels like it would be giving a young coach a shot. And I’m okay with that but not sure if that’s the right move.

BRING ME MDA FUCK DEFENSE I JUST WANT TO WATCH GOOD OFFENSE AGAIN.

  10. Quin Snyder being at the top of the list is a great sign for our organizations future imo

Mavs fan here . Hopefully things go well with the new coach. I just wanted to comment on the situation if you don’t mind. This kind of situation happens rarely in the NBA, for a competitive team:

If you’re expecting the new coach to change the offense this season, you’re in for a rude awakening. A new staff would need at least a training camp to implement a new philosophy.

Your offense , as ugly as it is now , is super efficient. Just like with my Mavs , Lukaball and Traeball are not a blast to watch, but they are good enough.

Your issue , I think , is a lack of shooting. Giving up Huerter was not a good idea. Surrounding Trae with Shooters is always the way. And as much as I like Murray, he was not the perfect fit for Trae imo.

All these issues are fixable in the off-season. Am sure the addition of Saddiq Bey is gonna help in the short term.

    Best of wishes.

Instead of me, he promotes Charles Lee. I’m an NBA Coach, weeeeeeeee! Not the choice I would have gone with.

I would expect the Golden State well is poisoned for us for now. I trust in Travis Schlenk … to tell those guys to stay the hell away from this situation.

Not to say a good coach can’t come in here and get something done. We know coaching was a major issue. But we’ll have to see on the front office still, as far as I am concerned.

I just hope that whoever the next coach is, we recognize that this team needs more than only a change in tactics and motivation. Granted, I’m on record saying two things that largely depend on coaching:

    1. We’re a midrange jump-shooting team in a league that is all about hitting 3s and attacking the rim

    2. Defense is more about scheme and effort than personnel

Both of those things could improve with a change in coaching, along with motivation against the lesser teams that beat us far too often. Even so, I’m not convinced the roster is constructed in a way that will enable any coach to actually challenge the elite teams in the NBA. So, more work to do in that regard as well.

Whoever our next coach is has to be the right person. We need stability.

The new coach needs to get Trae and DJM to play much better off the ball. I think it’s hard to do for 2 guards and requires a good offensive mind. I don’t even think Luka and Kyrie are doing it much so far although easier there since Luka has size to play SF. Then other things should open up more shooters and slashers.

  17. It’s been quinn for a month now. I imagine we announce him sooner rather than later. We were interviewing him a while ago.

No Becky Hammon? That’s odd. You’d think with how stingy Tony is, he’d jump at the opportunity to pay someone 70 cents on the dollar.

  19. EuroStepJam

Is Prunty not even an option? He seems to have some play calling ability and he’s seen what has worked and not worked past couple years.

  20. Nick Nurse gets fired from Toronto (idiots), which should be a tier higher than Quin Snyder.
