They start with Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns, and Ric tells Joy why he’s not of the mind that the Suns are facing a lot of pressure to win the championship this year with their newly acquired player. He does, however, think this is their best shot, and he talks to Joy about the dynamics of that. Plus, LeBron James says this playoff push for the Los Angeles Lakers will be the most important of his career. AD for Kyrie trade makes no sense. Lakers could trade AD somewhere else who has some cap space, and then have enough room to sign Kyrie outright.

The Lakers years haven't been great, almost 5 seasons and 3 could be under .500. The other two were COVID affected so it's hard to judge but they did have one first round exit. Yes they won the bubble championship but there is a reason we call it that – it's an asterisk. I don't think they win it if that season had been "normal". It's not Lebron's fault though, the teams around him have seemed either always injured or not suited to play well with his game.
Crazy how the Celtics just imploded and lost the Finals as opposed to the Warriors figuring them out and beating them

How can you move AD off the table when he is a big reason why the Lakers have underperformed. When last seem looking like himself the Lakers had a lead over the Sun's team that went to the finals. When people asked my opinion about the recent trade, my answer was they're moving in the right direction but won't matter until AD starts playing like a top 10 player consistently again. I love that all these commentators think in a west this deep the Lakers can just have success with role players and AD either missing a lot or missing in action during games. Btw, Joy still doesn't realize the "anyone but the Lakers" rule. Most teams will help anyone but the Lakers. Lastly, the one thing I will blame the Lakers organization for was taking a flyer on Darvin Ham. I don't think this is the right coaching hire.
